Big story (Free to read). The UK's Saturday 3pm blackout could soon(ish) be a thing of the past
𝗘𝗫𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗩𝗘: SPFL offers end to UK’s 3pm blackout.
Broadcasters have been given the opportunity to acquire live rights to all Scottish Premiership matches for the first time, paving the way to the end of the UK’s Saturday 3pm blackout.
The SPFL is understood to have offered the option to bid for all matches in its next domestic cycle from 2029-30 and is increasingly confident the blackout will not be in place.
This would then allow other leagues, including the Premier League and EFL, to make their full inventories available in domestic rights auctions.

The City mess has left me feeling as unengaged as I ever have about a season, which is crazy considering we're champions. This is a stark reminder of the numbers. And that is assuming they behaved impeccably after 2018, which seems implausible. nytimes.com/athletic/7663342…
Relevent Sports Group adds Uefa national team rights to its European football portfolio from 28-29. Relevent Football Partners markets club competitions exclusively from 27-28
𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: Relevent lands Uefa national team rights
In the first change of agency since centralisation 14 years ago, Relevent has won the exclusive mandate to sell Uefa men's national team commercial rights from 2028-29 to 2035-36, displacing CAA Eleven.
The mandate covers media, sponsorship and licensing rights, including the 2032 and 2036 European Championships, the European Qualifiers and the Nations League.

Scrapping VAR wouldn't solve the problem of the penalty being given at Sunderland (even tho VAR should have overturned it). Referreeing standards in general need addressing
If the Premier League cared one iota about fans, it would scrap VAR at the end of the season. It’s time to do the right thing. dailymail.com/sport/football…
🤣 This is an outright lie to support the ref's decision. They're both facing the ball

The referee’s call of penalty to Sunderland for a holding offence by Konsa on Ballard was checked and confirmed by VAR.
REF: “He’s all over him at the near post facing the wrong way”.
VAR: “I’m happy that it’s a holding offence. The foul is confirmed. Confirming the on-field decision of penalty”.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Multiple replays and stills show that Konsa was facing the ball throughout the incident until Ballard dragged him down. The refs ignore Ballard's role in the fracas and focus on Konsa alone.
