I feel a lot of you have lost the plot... the comments coming in a thread about "buying a home" versus #bitcoin seem to be off to me. A few things can be true, the world is not linear black/white, there is nuance. in pure math / data, I do believe BTC will outperform real estate by a long shot, and I understand the narrative that putting money into anything other than Bitcoin is a scam / a waste because nothing will outperform it, but... you have to remember one thing. WE DON'T WANT MONEY What we want is the "Goods and Services" money buys us. For example, I spend a lot of money on multiple vacations per year, my family travels to surf destinations 4-6's per year, and that $ could go into BTC or any other investment instead. I bought a new home a few years back and put a bunch of money down and into it, $ that could have gone into BTC again. but... again, I don't want the money. what I want is the experiences with my family. My kids are growing up fast, time I can never get back. Using the money to build experiences, memories and bonding with my family is WHAT I WANT MONEY FOR. Giving my kids a home to grow up in with their best friends on the street and for us to build memories is WHAT I WANT MONEY FOR. Now, I understand there are levels to this... the "marginal utility of money" tells us this. If you are broke and trying to build your future, yes consume less than you produce and save / invest the rest. But at some point, what are you saving and investing for? I can answer this for myself, I want money for 2 reasons: 1. to give options to my family 2. to help other people Once I have the assets, capital, and savings that I feel good about, I spend money on the things that matter the most to me. I think every billionaire on their deathbed would give it all up to spend a few more days creating memories with their loved ones. don't let this scare time go to waste because you are saving your money for some future you might never see.
