Fat iron shots?
Your weight is probably hanging back. At impact, more of your weight should be on your lead foot than your trail foot.
Hold your finish for 3 seconds. If you can't, you didn't get there.
How I'd break 80 this season if I were starting at 85.
You don't need more distance. You need fewer big numbers. Here's the plan:
1. Off the tee, pick the club that keeps you in play. Lose the double bogeys first.
2. Aim for the middle of every green. Pins are for scratch golfers.
3. Learn one chip shot you can hit every time. Same club, same setup.
4. Lag every putt outside 20 feet to inside 3. Three-putts are the quiet score killers.
5. Keep stats for three rounds: penalties, three-putts and up-and-downs. They'll tell you where the 5 shots are.
Scoring is a math problem before it's a swing problem.
What's your scoring goal for next season?
Tuesday drill: one-handed chips.
Hit 10 chips with just your lead hand. Then 10 with just your trail hand.
You'll feel exactly which hand is taking over. Then go back to two hands and let them work together.

Pick one club and hit 10 shots at 3 different targets. Changing targets builds the skill you use on the course.
Late-night golf question:
If you could only play one course for the rest of your life, which one would it be?

Pressure putt routine:
Read it, pick your line, take one practice stroke while looking at the hole, then go.
The longer you stand over it, the more doubt creeps in.
Couldn't stop laughing with the @PXG crew in Scottsdale. Best part of the trip.
Driver tip:
Tee it so half the ball sits above the crown. Ball off your lead heel. Tilt your shoulders slightly away from the target at address.
That setup helps you hit up on it.
What competing taught me about golf under pressure.
When a shot actually matters, your swing gets shorter and faster. Everyone's does. The trick isn't to stop that from happening. It's to build a game that still works when it does.
1. Have one stock shot you trust. Same shape, every time.
2. Know your real distances, not your best distances.
3. Make your routine identical on every shot, so the big ones feel like the small ones.
4. Breathe out before you take the club back.
5. Pick your target, commit to it, and accept the result.
I've hit shots on national TV and in a tournament I won. The thing that held up both times wasn't a swing thought. It was knowing exactly what I was going to do before I stepped in.
What's the most pressure you've ever felt on a golf shot?
