Police responding to an unanswered door in Florida discovered a very unusual suspect after neighbors reported that food deliveries had been piling up on the same porch for nearly three days. Body-camera footage reportedly shows officers stepping inside the home and finding an African grey parrot standing over a home phone, pecking at the keypad as another restaurant attempted to call back about an order. The bird quickly abandoned the phone and climbed back into its cage as though it knew the weekend was officially over.
The homeowner, who had been out of town for three days, told officers the parrot had apparently learned how to place orders by watching him. Several nearby restaurants had been saved to one-touch speed dial, and his card information was already connected to the delivery accounts, making it surprisingly easy for the bird to keep ordering. Because the only food-related word the parrot regularly says is "burger," officers believe that may explain why so many of the bags contained burgers and fries.
