Can't script this: A week after TX-34 candidate Eric Flores sent a cease-and-desist to take down a Dem ad showing him next to Trump, the WH announces POTUS will be going to ... TX-34
A sign of the times ahead of November: GOP candidate Eric Flores is in a tough race to try to flip a South Texas seat — and he wants to pull down a billboard ad by his opponent Rep. Vicente Gonzalez promoting his endorsement from Trump and his support of ICE.

from @politico this weekend - Democratic House and Senate candidates and outside groups have spent $145 million on general election ads mentioning Trump, while Republicans have spent just $8 million, according to a POLITICO analysis of data from AdImpact, which tracks political advertising.
That’s in sharp contrast to 2024, when GOP candidates spent $62 million on ads mentioning Trump.

It's a tale as old as time. The House is getting ready to blame... the Senate.
“All of this money that was expected to go to the House, for the most part, is now being wasted on the Senate because they fucked up so bad," said one national GOP operative working on multiple competitive House races.
New: Republicans are sharpening their knives ahead of Election Day — and many have already decided privately who they will blame if results don’t go their way.
So far, no one is safe from taking heat.

👀 Rs inside Trump’s political operation are warning that pro-Trump super PACs can only help so much
Instead, GOP candidates need to focus on laying out 3-5 key future deliverables to “improve people’s personal economic situation” and “lower [their] cost of living.”
If not, “there’s a good chance they’re going to lose.”
That’s shocked Rs in tough races, who feel like they’re getting diverging messaging. It’s a big shift from even how House GOP leadership has approached the campaign trail in the final stretch.

NEW — Two weeks out, Republicans are already spending significant time discussing who to blame on election night if they suffer big losses.
It’s a vicious cycle as Rs start to point fingers, publicly and privately, at the NRCC, Senate GOP, Roger Marshall, Trump himself and more. Trump political aides are calling campaigns they feel aren’t performing well enough.
“If it happens, there will be plenty of blame to go around,” said Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-N.J.), who is in his own tighter-than-comfortable race.

NEW — In late September, top Republicans across House GOP leadership, leading political operations and individual campaigns received a trove of internal polling. It sparked a new level of panic.
The polling didn’t just reveal a harsh environment for the party in power on par with typical midterms, but rather some close-to-catastrophic scenarios in a slew of formerly safe red seats across the country.
Key seats in Kentucky, North Carolina, Nevada and other areas that President Donald Trump won by 10 points or more in 2024 were competitive. All three vulnerable GOP-held seats in Iowa looked doomed. And most ominously, a crop of Republican incumbents who haven’t had to run serious races in years were vulnerable, from Oklahoma to Wisconsin and beyond.
