All seven Databricks co-founders began our journey together at UC Berkeley. We started the company in a room in Soda Hall, moved to a small office on Addison Street, and spent our first few years in Berkeley before eventually heading to SF. Two of our co-founders are still on the faculty. Today we announced Databricks Field at California Memorial Stadium, our first collegiate athletics sponsorship. Berkeley shaped everything about how this company thinks, and this is our way of investing in the next generation of students and builders who'll do their best work on that campus. Our immediate order of business is to find office space, and hire an amazing founding team over the next few weeks. We want to create an awesome environment with a great culture of technical excellence, teamwork, respect, and ambition. We’ll also start building our infrastructure and AI models and systems to tackle our first domain: automating large-scale experimentation for ML research and engineering. In doing so, we’re going to be our own first customers. The rapid feedback from doing that is the way to build something amazing. Oh, we’re hiring! See discoveryloop.com

.@VP: "You will hear a couple small but loud voices today speak obsessively not of our national greatness, but of our national imperfections... They will tell you that America is just another country where the weak struggle against the strong, and if they acknowledge that there is anything to be proud of in our history, they’ll say it’s the fact that sometimes the powerless have won a zero-sum battle. They’re wrong..." "What I’d ask you to do, my fellow Americans, on our 250th birthday, is to reject the two dimensional view of your fellow citizens, and reject the two dimensional view of your country. Reject that America is a place for zero-sum thinking, because it is not. Our history is one of people carving a great civilization out of the wilderness. Reject the view of your nation that sees only its sins, but not its grace and its greatness." 🇺🇸

Today, on America’s 250th birthday, Susan and I are celebrating by giving $250 each to the first 25 million qualifying American children who sign up for their @InvestAmerica24 @TrumpAccounts. This makes every child a shareholder in the greatest prosperity-creating engine the world has ever known — American capitalism. Through this public-private partnership, we’re giving the next generation a real stake in our economy and a path to the American Dream: education, a first home, starting a business, and building lasting wealth. It unites us all in hope and optimism for every child’s future. Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸 trumpaccounts.gov/

#USMNT striker Folarin Balogun on his immediate reaction to red card: “I think it was just important to stay calm. I never want to react out of anger and out of emotion. There’s still lots of people we’re inspiring, little kids, boys and girls who are watching, and we have to show them the correct way to handle things, even when you think it's unjust.” On shaking ref’s hand postgame: “As said, you can feel like something, injustice can happen to you. It’s not an excuse to be disrespectful… I'm aware that the World Cup might be the first time a lot of American viewers are tuning in. So it's important just to show people, whether things happen to you, good or bad, just to continue to be yourself.”
