That was an extraordinary site..disorienting and profoundly beautiful. @Tesla @SpaceX @elonmusk Here is an older digital work mine that emerged from thinking through the fantasy of the flying car 🧐: “Epochs > Highways” - 2022 The piece stages a golden apple suspended inside a refrigerator, rendered across animated GIFs and pencil-and-pixel paint drawings. In the apple’s reflection, the artist (me) appears briefly, partially, and set in motion. I was interested in the collision of biblical and classical desire with the most banal of domestic architectures (the fridge ) as both archival chamber and failed utopia and in how the promise of radical mobility is continually reabsorbed into the slow violence of the everyday. The title gestures toward a preference for historical rupture over the linear logic of the highway, even as the work itself remains caught between those two temporalities.
