Voters in swing states approved a lot of conservative ballot measures while voting for anti-Trump candidates.
If Democrats lurch far left on policy, the voters who gave them an enormous victory on Tuesday will be strongly tempted to switch back to the GOP or stay home in future elections.

Replying to @kenshirotism
The average voter has an understanding of politics of a five year-old at best.
you can say the president was trying to fix the long-term problems first something that no president has done before with the tariffs trying to pay down the debt and deportation has help with illegal crossing being as low since the 1930s.
The prediction for the next two years is gonna be nothing but gridlock, Trump still gonna do his policy if he has to use the judges or executive order to do it and next year the voters will once again learned the wrong lessons because everything stayed the same.

I called yesterday’s results 11 months ago.
Everything that unfolded since then only confirmed my suspicion that we were going to experience first a Blue Wave, then a Blue Tsunami, and finally a catastrophic extinction-level event that would swamp us in states no one even had on their radar.
AND YET, despite everything that has just happened, what I wrote here back in January is still true today:
“The simple fact is Democrats are the overwhelming favorite because of secular trends that largely have nothing to do with whatever Right-wing civil war will be unfolding on X at the end of the year.”
When Democrats win the House of Representatives in 11 months everyone on the Right is going to immediately revert back to endless blackpilling, doomposting, and circular fitting squad behavior. It will be the biggest histrionic convention on the internet of the year as everyone advances their own ideological pet theory for why the GOP lost and why their specific niche ideological worldview must rise up to replace the ineffective GOP establishment.
Of course, some of these critiques (and proposed solutions) might actually be more right than wrong when examining them on a more granular level. But the general zeitgeist that will be in full swing between mid November and Christmas will most certainly be wrong, no matter how many viral tweets it produces.
The simple fact is Democrats are the overwhelming favorite because of secular trends that largely have nothing to do with whatever Right-wing civil war will be unfolding on X at the end of the year.
>Midterm elections have almost always favored the party out of power for the past century
>Every midterm election for the last 24 years has resulted in the party that doesn’t control the White House either flipping the House or expanding their existing their majority
>The coalition shifts of the last decade have produced an extremely high-propensity Democratic Party who routinely show up in disproportionate numbers during special elections and off-year cycles
>Redistricting has thus far been close to a wash, and if Democrats gerrymander Virginia (as they are favored to do), they’ll actually come out on top of the 2025/2026 phase of the redistricting wars. This redistricting advantage can be undone after the 2030 census and if the VRA gets struck down, but it still gives Democrats a boost in 2026
All four of these things combine to give Democrats probably an 80-90% chance of flipping the House this year. None of it means that we’re back to the End of History or the Thousand Year Libtard Reich that everyone was predicting back in 2013.
This isn’t meant to be taken as an understatement of how bad such an event would be. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a disaster. But it’s a disaster that’s more structural than ideological.
Of course, that won’t stop people from projecting the results out into eternity anyway, but some perspective is important here.

Right. Trump did great work on immigration so people stopped caring, and Trump did great work on crime so people stopped caring about that too.
Those were huge issues in 24 that basically disappeared from public consciousness.

I'm gonna work to avoid any "I told you" or "you shoulda listened" crap, because that schtick is pompous and annoying, and I've said repeatedly that nobody has a magic bullet. Just observations here, today.
There's a maxim in showbiz: STORY IS KING...
We're in a new era of communication, and only one side seems to be living in it. The old guard consultant class is about to be relegated to the dustbin of history.
If you think that high prices lost the election for the right, you don't understand marketing. Humans have no problem paying a premium for a good quality brand. Notice the word "brand", not "product". Are Nikes better than New Balance? Nope. But the brand is better. And notice what happened when they tinkered with the brand and screwed their core narrative? Nike stock fell through the basement. Did the product change? Nope. The brand did.
It's not the product, it's the brand. Results don't sell the product, the storytelling does. Will these newly-elected commies lower prices? Of course not. Are they gonna get you free healthcare? No, your insurance is gonna get even worse, just like it did the last time they tried socialized medicine. They're not going to do anything they've sold you, but...like Saul Goodman said: if you're committed enough, you can make any story work.
The committed storytelling of a couple insane podcasters was enough to fracture an entire political coalition from their own side in less than 2 years...they have zero power, zero credibility, they've never actually governed anything nor produced any results, but...they're good storytellers, and that's all that matters. Are they telling a good story? No, it's atrocious, but they're telling their atrocious story effectively and compellingly.
It is 100% true that everything's too damn expensive, and we all know that inflated prices are always sticky. Does anyone know that it's entirely the result of shutting down the global economy over the flu and (both naive republicans and democrats) printing infinity dollars for several years? Nope...because nobody has effectively told that story, and it's an unsexy story to tell. "Free stuff!" is a VERY easy story to tell, and when everyone's gotta take out a second mortgage just to pay their insurance premiums, "free healthcare" is an unbeatable story. It doesn't matter that "free healthcare" doesn't exist and socialized medicine is a terrible product...it's not the product, it's the brand. And "FREE!" is a great brand.
You can't get mad at people for having the financial literacy of a 9 year old. I mean, you can, but they outnumber you a million to one, so it's not going to be productive. You need to figure out how to make an unsexy story sexy, or else the "free stuff!" crowd is going to eat your lunch every time. If you give people a choice between earning a six pack on a treadmill or taking Ozempic, they're gonna choose Ozempic...they don't care about the side effects. If you give people a choice between fiscal discipline or free stuff...guess what they'll pick? They don't care about the side effects.
With projected growth of 5%, the economy right now is stronger than it's been in generations. Is that the story you hear? Nope. Is that the vibe you feel? Absolutely not, especially when every time you fill up your gas tank, it feels like a diesel enema.
It's not the product, it's the brand. A great product can fall into oblivion with bad messaging...a single bad review from one effective storyteller can tank a restaurant. The "influencer economy" is lucrative for a reason; everybody inherently understands the importance of effective storytelling...except the right. Zohran Mamdani gets it...he has an army of influencers on staff. In a perfect metaphor of this transitional phase of old guard vs new wave political messaging, Zohran nuked the Vice President into oblivion with maybe the biggest ratio in the history of the internet. By simply posting the subway assistant meme, Mamdani got 2 MILLION likes, quoting a post from the VP that had only 10K likes. If you're reading that sentence thinking "this is fucking ridiculous, you're talking about social media likes as political analysis now?"...you are the problem.
Yes, this stuff matters. Rizz matters. The President did a masterful job of this kind of retail politics in his historic 2024 campaign...you can be angry that this is what politics has been reduced to, but you can either adapt or die.
"No the problem is, you didn't deliver enough for the American people!" Are you a moron? Since when does anybody care about that? What have democrats delivered for Californians in the last 20 years? Unmitigated wildfires, homeless drug zombies everywhere, roads that look like Fallujah in 2004...people don't care about results. They think they care about results. That want you to believe they care about results, just as Nike wants you to believe their shoes are better than New Balance...but at the end of the day, all people really care about is the swoosh.
Adapt or die.

I saw someone disparage politics as “voteball” and now I can’t get that out of my head
Dunno how anyone can believe in Labour Theory of Value when political campaigns exist.
Every candidate works hard. Does their best. Visits states in 30 days to shore up friends and political allies. But that doesn't mean a guaranteed reward of public office.

Looks like the "childfree" crowd found this post about a woman lamenting her infertility.
Unlike the Biden economy, this economy i think wasn't as bad but it was like it was suspended in mid air under a miasma of uncertainty.
I thought we can just stay this way until it was time to drop into the water. Guess more people were anxious than I was.

If this animates him more and he has a better cadre then maybe he can take 2028.
His initial campaign just did not jive with me. And if you looked at him then didn't jive with him.
🚨 JUST IN: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says expect MAJOR INVESTIGATIONS and LAWFARE from the Senate and House
ELON MUSK is one target they've constantly mentioned. Protect him 🙏🏻
"They have the gavels, and so they're going to launch a lot of investigations, and it's going to be in both chambers, it's going to probably be across multiple committees."
DeSantis says they can also start ramming through legislation and forcing Trump to veto it or not.
Dems can EASILY do reconciliation packages because it requires no filibuster.

My one snd only political post on this
"How could [current side in power] lose?"
Its simple:
If nothing improves in 2 years, watch a lot of seats flip back to [whatever party wasnt in charge]
People dont like living in fear of layoffs and with gas being over $5

One thing people need to understand politically about Georgia, is that there is Atlanta and then there is Georgia. Atlanta elected Keisha Lance Bottoms governor, not Georgia. Atlanta may be geographically southern, but politically, it may as well be L.A. or New York. It's that liberal a city. As an Atlanta native, I can say that, politically speaking, Atlanta is one of the most ethnically divisive (racist) cities in America. If the candidate is black and Democrat, it's a given that Atlanta voters, the majority of whom are black, will support that candidate, and primarily for those reasons alone (black and Democrat). Bottoms' horrid record as mayor Atlanta didn't matter to them. In the end, all that mattered was her melanin. And unless Republicans can find a candidate who can crack that "black code," Georgia will remain blue for many years to come.
