October is National Shelter Dog Month, and today is Make A Dog’s Day. Adopt, don’t shop. Buster’s favorite thing is to play in the snow. Can you tell?

It’s time to encourage the next generation of writers. Today is National Day on Writing®, established by the National Council of Teachers of English. I write because I love constructing puzzles and sharing stories. Why do you write? bit.ly/4s9Cq5w

Where do ideas come from? Ninety feet below the surface of the Atlantic, common objects can take on a new meaning. A plastic bag floating from the wheelhouse of the Thunderbolt inspired Death by Blue Water. Underwater, no one hears you scream. amzn.to/45q3faJ

Happy Caturday and Black Cat Awareness Month from Elvis. Someone abandoned him as a senior with a bad thyroid problem, so he found my husband as any sensible cat would. Elvis was the sweetest, kindest, most lovable mogie ever. We lost him in 2012. The vet said he was in his 20s.

October is Breast Cancer Month, and today is Be Bald and Free Day. I thought i'm sharing this photo for the first time. My hair fell out in the shower, a result of chemotherapy, and my husband shaved the rest. I won’t lie. It was hard to handle, but—it grew back. Big time.

National Mulligan Day is this week. A mulligan is a penalty free do-over, and I’ve taken a few in my life. I'm working on one right now. A full rewrite of the first book in the Maine Lodge Mysteries. How about you? Ever taken a mulligan? Share!
