My 15yr old loves the #GCHQChristmasChallenge2022 Took him less than 15 minutes …we’re going to need more puzzles!

This is really disappointing @the_LTA - if we’d known sooner we could have entered the public ballot on our 12yr olds behalf, but now we are too late! We don’t have LTA membership ourselves to opt in that way, so yet again no tickets for our son to be inspired this year. 😢

What a beautiful evening to be back with #Woodstockmusicsociety performing #Grieg and #Gjeilo

It’s been a long week, but there has been some great singing - thoughtful discussion - and funny moments in the music room, despite the chaos in the world outside. #morethanjustasinginglesson

Delighted that my student was a finalist on Sunday. Congratulations @BMaestros for a great competition and performance opportunity for our young singers.

The holidays are when I realise I love teaching singing the most - so now I’m off to discover some new music to share next term … #morethanjustasinginglesson #AlwaysLearning #MusicForLife
Singing in the car, singing at the table, singing in the shower, singing when they wake in the morning, singing as they drift off to sleep at night, singing songs they know, singing songs they don’t know, creating songs together. Singing with children is such an important joy.

You can’t rush somethings - whether it is music or sport it takes time and commitment. @jcasselton and I would love to know more about The way of the tortoise!
To celebrate my book The Way of the Tortoise publishing last week I’m giving away THREE copies! To enter, just RT and comment tagging someone else who'd love the book and I’ll pick the winners this Friday (18 June)   More info on the book here: amzn.to/3xn2oEW

That’s what I believe - #morethanjustasinginglesson !
What does singing provide? Singing provides expression. It provides release. It provides connection to ourselves and others. It provides great joy and happiness. It provides friendship and fellowship. It provides entertainment. Everything that singing provides is important.

“Words make you think thoughts, music makes you feel a feeling, but a song makes you feel a thought.” Every Friday @BBCRadio4 Desert Island Discs is just the inspiration I need as I drive to teach singing!

Please retweet this: @DCMS is ignorant of singing. The restrictions just imposed after thousands of choirs booked rehearsal spaces make a mockery of this hugely beneficial activity. If people can hug, breathe over eachother in pubs & infect waiters in restaurants why no singing?

This is ridiculous - any group activity where people will talk loudly or shout (i.e sports arenas) will be transmitting in the same way! We can sing safely with all the correct regulations in place - #letthepeoplesing
We've contacted @DCMS urgently for an explanation about why singing indoors has been singled out in the performing arts guidance for England. We've also updated our guidance tool with the latest rules for vocal & instrumental groups in all four UK nations: makingmusic.org.uk/resource/…

‘I was told not to pursue a career in that subject’ - despite this each person I have heard interviewed this week went on to a successful career in the area they were dissuaded from pursuing. Our talents and inspiration lie in different areas - let us value every subject equally!

Absolutely spot on @VFleischfresser !
We all need music. For the expression, for the connection, for the sanctuary, for the belonging, for the engagement, for the understanding, and for the pure beauty and joy that music provides. We all need music. All of us.
