seven havens theory: what if the seven havens weren't just built to protect people after the cataclysm, but to keep the avatar from uniting the world again?
if the twins discovers that the havens' leaders benefit from keeping humanity divided, restoring balance might mean dismantling the very societies that kept people alive.
but if the only way to restore balance is to destroy the systems keeping humanity alive, does that make the avatar the world's savior or its greatest threat?
atla theory: what if the avatar cycle is slowly undoing the very conditions that created it?
i think korra's decision to leave the spirit portals open has much bigger implications for the future of the avatar than we realize. π§΅
this doesn't mean the avatar is no longer necessary. spirits and humans still clash, and political conflict hasn't disappeared.
but it raises an interesting possibility: what if each avatar is supposed to help the world become less dependent on the avatar?
maybe the ultimate resolution of the avatar cycle isn't another battle against darkness.
maybe it's a world where humans and spirits can maintain balance without relying on a single reincarnated figure to intervene.
and if that's true, korra might have already taken the first step toward making the avatar obsolete.
