The Tories were so blinded by their hatred of the EU - we ended up tangled in post Brexit red tape, the total cost of that - Β£5 Billion a year. Yes the opposite to what the Brexit camp claimed (less red tape, easier exporting, they need us more than we need them...). Labour with its pragmatic approach will fix this. Good news. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cmp3…

Tonight, the American people sent a clear message β€” they want a politics that brings people together rather than divides them, and leaders who offer concrete solutions to the challenges they face. These results were only possible because outstanding candidates stepped forward in every region of the country β€” including in areas once considered long shots. They came from different backgrounds and represented a range of political perspectives, but were united by shared values, a belief in public service, and a commitment to putting the people of their districts and states first. We also owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of election officials and volunteers from both parties who helped ensure a smooth election and carried out one of the most essential functions of our democracy. While this administration has another two years in office, our job now is to roll up our sleeves, make changes wherever we have the power to do so, prevent further damage, and lay the groundwork for the future.

Patriotism cannot only be about what we are against - it has to be a vision we are fighting for. That vision is embodied by the tapestry of different cultures writ large across Finchley & Golders Green that creates a rich, proud, resilient British identity. (1/3)

Being a total idiot I left my black laptop bag on the tube on Thursday at around 9.10pm. It was on the High Barnet branch of northern line. It’s got my laptop and two recorders in it. If anybody has handed it on/picked it up, it would be amazing to get back. Please share

If Andy Burnham wants to make an appointment that would truly change the way government is viewed in the United Kingdom, he should immediately appoint Feargal Sharkey as his Environment Agency chief and give him real power to regulate our green and pleasant land.

Solar panels are going up on schools across the country - including Bristol’s own Avonmouth Primary. This Government is taking practical action to help schools generate their own clean electricity, reduce energy costs and support our transition to net zero.

I’m one of around 700,000 Londoners who can’t swim. So learning has become a personal mission. Great to join @swimdemcrew to talk about opening up London’s blue spaces and share 5 essentials for new swimmers. That’s what @SadiqKhan’s Clean Rivers & Waterways Plan is all about.

This is not a new announcement. The Β£8.4 billion is β€œpart of the already agreed Dreadnought programme”. There is no new money here and no new jobs. This is a re-announcement. β€œAlready agreed”theguardian.com/politics/2026/… Page 29 lists existing spending far higher than 8.4 billion for the programme. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6a44e989…
