Family kept in the dark: They received mysterious calls from a woman claiming to be an immigration lawyer—first offering help, then falsely saying Leon had died. Secret transfer: Leon was routed through a Minnesota detention center and flown to Guatemala – a country with which he has zero ties. No ICE paperwork or public deportation record exists. How family found out: A relative in Chile eventually located him alive, hospitalized in Guatemala. Health risk: Leon has diabetes, high blood pressure and a heart condition; his current condition remains unknown as relatives race to reach him. F—k ICE and Trump.
