Somewhere in this photograph of the old BSE trading ring is a younger me—with spectacles, a moustache, plenty of confidence and probably more ambition than experience. Looking at this picture today brings back so many memories. I had left college and was finding my own way in life. The trading ring was an entirely different world—full of energy, excitement, opportunities and uncertainties. I was young, curious, ambitious and perhaps a little overconfident. I believed I could figure things out, even when I didn’t fully understand what I was getting into. Some decisions worked. Others failed badly. And many times, life reminded me how much I still had to learn. Looking back, I realise that my journey was never about having all the answers. It was about having the confidence to begin, the humility to learn from mistakes, the courage to change direction and the conviction to stay when something started working. More than three decades later, I still believe there is so much more to learn. Perhaps that’s what life is really about. We are never finished learning, evolving and becoming better versions of ourselves.

Q2 earnings are out—a great quarter. Consolidated gross revenue up 18.9% YoY to ₹14.3 Bn; PAT up 58.2% YoY to ₹3.3 Bn. Super proud of the team. Despite a challenging environment, they stayed focused on what matters, building for clients and shipping products that make investing simpler. We have also started rolling out US stock investing, another step in making global investing more accessible for Indian investors. The numbers matter, of course. But what matters more is the direction: across investing, wealth, credit, and global markets, we are building a platform that can grow with people through every stage of their financial journey. AI will play a big role in what comes next, making investing smarter, more personal and more intelligent for millions of Indians. India’s financial journey is long. We are playing the long game. And honestly, we are just getting started. 😊 #AngelOne #Q2FY27 #FinTech @DineshThakkar @AngelOne

Will AI make the rich richer, or democratise wealth creation? At #TechSparks2026, @SharmaShradha posed this question to @kenghe, Group CEO of @AngelOne. His answer centred on three things: access, information, and intelligence. Technology has already made investing more accessible. AI could help bridge the remaining gaps in knowledge and analytical capabilities. But as Ambarish pointed out, democratising access doesn't mean equalising wealth. Shradha reinforced an equally important belief: successful entrepreneurs must bring others along. The real opportunity isn't just creating more wealth. It's enabling more people to participate in creating it. #TheNewTechOrder #YourStory

Angel One turned 30 this year, and I sat down with DT to talk about what that really took. I wanted to hear about the real journey — the tough decisions, the people who influenced him and the lessons along the way. One thing he said which I haven't stopped thinking about is: “𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗴𝗼, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄.” DT spoke about letting go of businesses he had built himself, trusting people to take things forward and giving them the space to find their own way. That is leadership at its most meaningful: creating the conditions for people to build beyond what one person could achieve alone. India has changed enormously in 30 years, and Angel One’s story has evolved alongside it. Through all of it, there has been a constant willingness to evolve — listening to customers, experiment, learn quickly and take calculated risks. Glad we could capture some part of it. Thirty years of @AngelOne. This is the conversation behind the journey. @DineshThakkar #30YearsofAngelOne #AngelBoldConversations #BuildingForTheBillion youtu.be/d39XKJmoj4c?si=NDGG…

I think MDR on UPI was probably inevitable at some point, especially given how widespread UPI adoption has become. It could also lead to more competition, instead of just three apps accounting for more than 95% of the market. That being said, there are some use cases, like investing and broking, where the proposed MDR structure doesn’t really make sense. The problem with broking is that there is no guarantee that money transferred to a broker will actually result in a transaction. As brokers, we can’t force a customer to trade after transferring money. And if we can’t pass the UPI charge on to the customer, there is essentially no limit to the cost a customer can impose on a broker without generating any revenue. Just as an example, 10,000 customers could each make 50 UPI transfers of ₹2 lakh in a month without executing a single trade. At the proposed MDR, this could potentially cost the broker around ₹2 crore, without generating any business. What makes this even more challenging is quarterly settlement (QS). This is a SEBI regulation that requires brokers to send unused funds back to clients every month or quarter. Most customers then transfer these funds back to their broking accounts, with more than half of these transfers happening through UPI. So regulation essentially forces this movement of money every month or quarter, and the broker could end up bearing the cost when the money comes back, without any incremental benefit or revenue. By the way, we currently don’t charge brokerage on equity delivery trades because the economics allow us to offer them for free. But if every UPI transfer starts carrying an additional cost, irrespective of whether the customer actually trades, I don’t see how we can absorb this indefinitely. I think having an MDR is okay. It still doesn’t solve the problem of customers transferring money without transacting, but something like 0.02% with a cap of ₹5 or ₹10 per transaction seems much more reasonable for broking, instead of a cap as high as ₹300.

Ten years ago, UPI was an ambitious bet: build interoperable, real-time payment infrastructure that could work at a scale no one else in the world had dared attempt. Today, it's far more than a way to pay. I've watched UPI quietly reshape how India lives, from getting people through the pandemic without ever touching cash, to letting a street vendor, a migrant worker, or a first-time investor participate in the formal economy with nothing more than a phone. What strikes me most now is that India isn't just using this infrastructure anymore. We're exporting it. UPI is already live across multiple countries, and nations are actively partnering with us to build their own digital public infrastructure. But I don't think UPI's real achievement is the transaction volume, staggering as it is. It's that an entire generation now simply expects financial transactions to be instant, safe, and invisible. What Life without UPI was is like explaining to my teenagers what life without smartphones was! I think the next decade takes that expectation much further as the ecosystem scales: credit on UPI, conversational AI-led transactions, offline payments, programmable money, machine-to-machine payments.… UPI shows what's possible when interoperability, inclusion, and scale get designed into infrastructure from day one. The real question now: can we bring that same thinking to India's next generation of digital infrastructure? Happy 10th UPI! Can’t wait to see next 10! #UPI #DigitalPublicInfrastructure #10YearsOfUPI @NandanNilekani | @pramodkvarma | @dilipasbe | @NPCI_NPCI | @RBI

More brokers to launch CAS order queuing as Angel One takes early lead Several large stockbrokers, including Groww and Zerodha, are expected to introduce systems that allow investors to queue orders under the new Closing Auction Session (CAS) over the next fortnight, even as Angel One has taken an early lead by rolling out the feature ahead of its rivals. Every now and then, you hear something that reframes how you look at an institution you've known all your life. That happened when I sat down with Shri Sundararaman Ramamurthy, MD & CEO of BSE, for the latest episode of ABC. We were sitting in the old trading ring when he smiled and said, "There was a time you didn't need a map to find BSE. You just followed the noise on Dalal Street." It's such a simple line, but it says so much about how markets have evolved. The noise has moved to screens. Orders are executed in milliseconds. Millions more Indians participate in the markets today than ever before. And yet, the foundation hasn't changed. Trust is still what holds the entire system together. One part of our conversation that particularly resonated with me was his view on investor protection. It's easy to think of it as the regulator's responsibility. But it's really a shared responsibility—across exchanges, brokers, fintechs, and everyone building for investors. On AI, he offered a perspective I really liked: Don't just react to AI, learn to act with it. Use it thoughtfully. Build with it responsibly. It was a conversation full of stories, perspective and quiet wisdom. After months of consistently withdrawing money, global investors returned as net buyers this July, investing over ₹18,000 crore in Indian equities so far. Last week alone accounted for a big chunk of that, with over ₹10,000 crore inflows in the week of July 08, making it the strongest week of buying. Now, if you follow the markets every day, it's easy to get caught up in the latest headline. One month of buying. Another month of selling. It's tempting to read too much into a single month's or day’s data. Capital markets are just hard to predict over short periods of time. That's why I find it more useful to step back and look at the bigger picture. Over the last decade, FPIs have been net buyers in 7 of those 10 years. Yes, the recent outflows were sizeable. But they don't erase the bigger picture. India continues to stand out because the fundamentals remain intact. A growing economy, vibrant & aspirational youth, and increasing confidence in our long-term growth story. In the long term, capital will show up where macros align. India is too big an economy, growing at a phenomenal rate, for foreign investors to ignore for too long. If we keep the conditions conducive, they will show up. Will there be some volatility? Absolutely. Markets will continue to surprise us. That's the nature of markets. But if the fundamentals remain strong, short-term swings become part of the journey, not the destination. Sometimes, it's only with hindsight that we realise that we were on an amazing journey. I think we are on such a journey long-term! #IndianEquities #CapitalMarkets #GlobalInvestors

Trust is the most valuable currency in our markets today. As India’s digital investment ecosystem expands, unfortunately, so does the sophistication of those trying to exploit it. With investment scams now accounting for a staggering 77% of financial cyber-losses in the country, the responsibility on us as leaders is greater than ever. At @AngelOne, protecting your hard-earned capital is our absolute priority. This is why we are one of the first apps to have the 'Verified' badge on the Google Play Store: part of a landmark initiative by @SEBI_India and @Google to eliminate fraudulent 'look-alike' apps. Fraudsters are getting smarter, and fake apps and impersonation attempts continue to be a problem across the industry. That's why simple measures that help investors identify genuine platforms matter. So, before you make your next trade or transaction, please ensure you are using an app that has the Verified badge. #InvestorProtection #AngelOne #DigitalSafety

We talk a lot about markets. We talk a lot about technology. But the more interesting conversation that is happening is the two meeting at scale and enabling increased participation for Indian investors in capital markets. Geopolitical headlines, rate cycles and bouts of volatility are testing sentiment more often, yet Indian investors are adapting and engaging with a wider range of financial products than ever before. The underlying resilience is raising the bar for our industry, and at @AngelOne, we are innovating with tech every day. The opportunity is no longer about access, it's about helping customers navigate financial decisions with greater simplicity, context, and confidence. I recently had an interaction with @nikita_vashisht from @bsindia to talk about where things are headed. For me, the most exciting shift is how AI is moving FinTech from pure execution toward genuine, personalized financial co-piloting. At the same time, the retail ecosystem is maturing. Growth from Tier II and III cities is changing our markets, shifting the industry focus toward full-stack financial services – wealth management, credit and long-term planning. That's the direction we are building toward. Full interview link in the comments. #AngelOne #Fintech #CapitalMarkets

“Chalo, Cricket Khelte Hai.” Feels like a line from another time, doesn’t it? Growing up, that’s all it took. No planning, no coordination- just step out and play. At Cricket Park, it was nice to see that feeling come back in such a real way. Because the love for the game is still very much there. What’s changed is how easy it is to actually get started. That’s what we tried to solve for at TSG Sports Arena—keeping it simple, open, and easy to join. And it worked. Over 300 creators and fans turned up and just… played. Turns out, the love for the game never really left. Sometimes, you just need a small nudge to get back on the field. @AngelOne #CricketPark #AngelOne

Generative AI is fundamentally changing how decisions are made. At its core, AI collapses the distance between a question and a confident answer. Throughout my journey, I have always been interested in how machine intelligence can simplify complexity, from shortening design cycles earlier to now making wealth creation more intuitive. Today, we are taking a step in that direction with 𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹. We have built it to be a true "financial co-pilot" that lives exactly where you need it. If you’re on a stock page, Ask Angel will help break down fundamentals or the latest news. If you’re navigating an IPO, it will help you parse through the data without you ever having to leave the page. And for everyday tasks like checking balances or withdrawals, it gives you instant, clear answers. To make this even more seamless, we’ve integrated intuitive "helpful pills", which suggest prompts that help you articulate complex queries and get to the right outcome, faster. Under the hood, Ask Angel is powered by a curated “Golden Dataset” across multiple research categories, ensuring that responses are fast, accurate, safe, and compliant. This is just the beginning. Over time, we will continue to deepen its capabilities from technical insights to more contextual, decision-oriented guidance. Incredibly proud of what the team has built, and even more excited about what comes next. @AngelOne #AskAngel #GenerativeAI #FinTech #AngelOne
