loud 996 people are directionally the same as wifeguys if you know what i mean
Revolut founder Nik Storonsky says working weekends is essential to survive, calling it "purely statistical" "So China is 996. And then even if you are good in Europe or even if you are good in US, how can you outcompete people who work nine to nine, 6 days a week?" "When I started in the startup space, there were 140 companies. Within five years, only three companies survived. They all worked on weekends." "Within 10 years, only 2 companies survived out of 140. So I think work on weekends is a must if you want to survive. Purely statistical." "Out of all European companies, we're probably one of the hardest working, and I think we're also one of the hardest working companies if you include US as well."

both are cringe and loud forms of performative signaling to try to fill certain voids within u that the thing you are performative about does not fill

i built Tasker, a Go-based SQLite-backed durable task queue, motivated by the same need across my side projects - dispatch tasks to be executed async outside user requests - configurable retries, concurrency & dispatch rate - durable outcome w retention github.com/kennethnym/tasker

Tasker is designed to be lightweight and easy to use. dispatch task payload and the HTTP endpoint on which the worker lives, then Tasker will call the worker at the appropriate time. Worker response is persisted, and it can be retrieved at any time.

use Tasker to handle dispatch of out-of-band task executions, or put Tasker in front of a service to handle back pressure. it is instrumented, which means you can track metrics like queue depth or dispatch latency and connect them to Grafana for visualization and alerting.

"your funniest trait is that you'll be debugging some incredibly obscure Rust or Linux issue one minute, then ask me something like whether you need to wave at a tram in San Francisco." this is me in a nutshell

it did the thing, god knows what happens in year 10000 but your service will survive somehow!
bot review be like: "when a uuid collision happens, this code path continues its course and does stuff anyways, causing the program to crash and burn and destabalizes the government. add a durable microservice store that tracks used uuids across replicas to avoid uuid collision"

GLM 5.3 is now 30% cheaper on Prime Inference, and also on OpenRouter when you pick Prime Intellect as the provider. We offer not only a top-tier speed but more importantly highly reliable tool call.

i think we should all collectively spend less time talking about our fancy agent setups and instead focus on the things we have actually built out of those setups

wait until you find out about the 2010s microfrontend fever dream..
it’s hard to explain the 2010s microservices fever dream to anyone who wasn’t there every day on HN, we'd wake up to an article from a new startup about how they split their app into 300 services so they could infinitely scale (never mind that they only had 100 MAUs today) so many companies never recovered from this it turns out, replacing simple function calls with network calls that could randomly fail isn't great for shipping velocity
