原哲夫が語る『北斗の拳』の作画の進化コラム☆ 【VISUAL EVOLUTION】 第1回：ケンシロウが包帯を巻いていた理由 原「最初はヒット作品の王道的な主人公のスタイルを意識していたんだよね。『マッドマックス』のメル・ギブソンや、車田正美先生の漫画に登場する包帯を巻いたキャラクターが印象に残っていて、主人公らしいスタイルにするために取り入れたんだと思う。今考えると『なんで包帯を巻いてるんだ？』ってなるけど（笑）。」 Hokuto no Ken - VISUAL EVOLUTION★ File 1: Why Kenshiro Wore Bandages “At first, I was aiming for the classic, standard style of a protagonist. Mel Gibson in Mad Max, and characters wearing bandages in Masami Kurumada-sensei's manga, really left an impression on me. I think I incorporated that look to give him that quintessential main-character style. Looking back on it now, though, you kind of wonder, 'Why is he even wearing bandages?' (laughs).”

【実はケンシロウ、スーパーサイヤ人の先輩なんだよ】 北斗が始まったばかりの頃って、ケンシロウの髪は今みたいじゃなくて、普通に下ろしていたよね。元々ブルース・リーが好きで、あの要素を入れたかったから。 漫画だと、怒ると髪が逆立つ定番の演出があるじゃない。ケンシロウも最初はキレた時だけ逆立つように描いていたわけ。 それが描き続けるうちにだんだんオールバックというか、気がついたら普段からあのスーパーサイヤ人みたいな頭になっちゃっていて。『ドラゴンボール』でスーパーサイヤ人が出てくるより、ケンシロウのツンツン頭のほうが先だったけど（笑）。 まあ、結果的にあれもひとつのトレードマークになったし、よかったんじゃないかな。 原哲夫が語る『北斗の拳』の作画の進化コラム☆ 【VISUAL EVOLUTION】第2回：髪型の変化 "You could say Kenshiro was a Super Saiyan before Super Saiyans were even a thing." Back when Hokuto no Ken first started, Kenshiro’s hair wasn’t spiky like it is now. He just wore it down normally, partly because I've always loved Bruce Lee. In manga, it’s a classic trope for a character's hair to stand on end when they get angry, and at first, that was how I drew Kenshiro; his hair only spiked up when he snapped. But as I kept drawing him, his hairstyle gradually evolved, and before I knew it, he was walking around with that slicked-back, spiky look all the time, just like a Super Saiyan. The funny thing is, Kenshiro’s spiky hair came long before Super Saiyans were even a thing in Dragon Ball (laughs).
