TAKE ME HOME
Take Me Home is for caregivers of children OR adults with cognitive issues who sometimes leave home on their own. It can be a lifesaver when time matters. Check it out to see if this works for your family.

BIG COUNTRY
This weekend KPD Sergeant Levi was on a call when he ran into Big Country. If you are not acquainted, @IVMBigCountry is from our neighboring Tacoma, and is currently competing on The Voice.
He asked if Sgt. Levi wanted a photo-who wouldn't?
Good luck Big Country. We are rooting for you!

BOY SCOUTS AND BICYCLE TIRES
Officer Hamilton had his hands full last evening at Scout night, helping kids learn how to change bicycle tires. His co-worker told us he must handled 100 tires, but his audience did not seem at all bored.
Thank you for inviting us!

PATRIOT DAY
Today we remember the many innocent civilians who perished on 9/11 twenty five years ago, and the hundreds of selfless public servants who ran towards danger and died while trying to save them. We honor our fallen and remind their friends and family that we will never forget.

NATIONAL DOG MONTH
We want to wrap up August with a nod to all the Kent PD K9s who have served our city since the 1960s.
They help patrol at night while our residents sleep, attend school assemblies, community gatherings & retirement homes, protect their handlers & co-workers, & then go home to their families for a warm bed & snuggles.
NO HOT DOGS & CHECK FOR BABY
We are still in the season of warm weather. You're doing well this year Kent, keep it up!
No pets in warm cars and always check for kiddos in the seats before you step out.

BACK TO SCHOOL SAFETY & BUS PROTOCOLS
It is ‘back to school’ season in Kent. Please take a moment to consider the role everyone in our community plays to keep our Kent kids safe to and from their classrooms.
DRIVERS
Please be aware of the children coming and going as they walk, board or bike to school. This is especially true near neighborhoods, school zones, crosswalks, and bus stops. Take the extra second to ensure an eager child isn’t about to dart out in front of you. Kids get excited and make poor decisions in moment. Be a vigilant driver.
Obey the stop signs on school buses. They are designed to keep our children safe.
PARENTS
Now is the time to have that talk with your children and teens about traffic safety. Show them where and how to walk, wait and cross. Discuss how tough it can be for a driver to see them, especially in inclement weather. Tell them no phones or other distractions while crossing the street.
Everyone else? Be aware of your surroundings, don’t walk/ride/drive distracted.
