Nvidia is a leveraged trade that most buyers have no idea about.

About 30% of Nvidia shares are managed passively, by index funds and rule-based portfolios. But that’s only if you assume 100% of the shares are for sale. The practical float is about 70% of the company, and passive funds hold about 40% of it.

The Substack version has links, which I’ve left out here because I don’t trust the X algo.

Discussing the midterm elections, @DavidSacks made a point that Republicans lost the only media they had: podcasters. I think it’s a brilliant observation. Podcasters were a crucial part of how Trump won, and today, e.g., Rogan is not feeling it anymore.

Wait, Jensen Huang had an affair with the Hermes agent?
Last thing Jensen Huang saw before leaking the Nvidia files to the CCP

This is really astrology for men. A magical “cycle” that has no fundamental explanation, but somehow just happens. When a woman asks you what your sign is, say: “I’m a technical analyst.”

About 40% of Nvidia practical float is managed passively. Index funds don’t buy Nvidia because it’s cheap, and they don’t sell it because it’s expensive either. Their shares work like a temporary buyback. sovereignoptimist.com/p/why-…

Eventually, AI will move, manage, and invest your money. Most people will outsource capital allocation to superintelligence.
Introducing Personal Finance in Claude, in beta in the US. Connect the accounts you choose, and Claude answers your money questions in everyday language, from your own balances and transactions. Access is read-only, and Claude can't move, manage, or invest your money.

I’ve been using AI for writing since the ChatGPT release. I went through phases, including completely AI-generated texts, only to end up with a strong conviction that you should NEVER use it to write actual paragraphs. If you do, you’re giving up not only the only thing that can’t be easily copied, but also an opportunity to sharpen your thinking and grow. Good writing takes years to develop, and every paragraph is a “rep.”

Investors love to have a thesis. The thesis may be simple: American stocks, precious metals, dividend aristocrats, real estate, Bitcoin… whatever it is, when they get obsessed with a thesis, what comes next is often a single-thesis portfolio. New read: sovereignoptimist.com/p/i-di…

Why do I get 4x more likes and comments on Substack with 4x fewer followers? What causes it? I guess Substack’s business model means they don't have to rely on clickbait as much.

While Russia wastes drones on apartment buildings, Ukraine strikes like a scalpel: refineries, missile-component factories, logistics hubs, expensive military aircraft, and vehicles carrying supplies to the front. The mindset gap is brutal. Under Putin Russia will collapse.

It’s quite possible that in 5–10 years nobody will invest manually anymore, just as nobody will hold a steering wheel. But it’s not guaranteed. In the meantime, keep buying while you still have an edge.

Bitcoin is a victim of the panic in mathematics. Everybody wonders if P = NP.

After OpenAI solved 300 math problems at once, many people wonder whether we’re about to learn that traditional cryptography is worthless. That would be devastating, but in that case, Bitcoin won’t be the problem we’re discussing. The security of the internet itself, critical infrastructure, the banking system, governments, military arsenals - everything depends on cryptography.

The strategy of diversification is older than humanity. Squirrels bury food in hundreds of small caches instead of one big pantry. A thief or a bad spot costs them a little, not everything. Even plants diversify: Desert annual plants don’t germinate all their seeds in the same year. Some stay dormant in the soil for years, so one drought can’t wipe out the whole lineage.

That’s why the 60/40 portfolio is such BS. The same thing happened during COVID, when the market was down (!). Bonds aren’t risk-free when you need them most: sovereignoptimist.com/i/1757…

Reactor uranium needs will double by 2040. Mine output covers about 90% of today's. I'm becoming uranium nerd.
Physical uranium funds let you buy uranium 31% below the contract price. One of many findings from my deep dive into nuclear energy. Coming soon.
