With the latest developments, and most of relevant and interesting game dev conversations having moved to Bluesky; I'm leaving Twitter behind. We had a good run.
Won't delete my account for practical reasons, but won't be monitoring outside of work stuff.

It's been a blast to work with @simoncarless and his team at @gamediscoverco, and to do some writing on the best data and research to date on the impact of UGC & mod support for games. Mods are good.
Excited to publish our UGC Impact Study 2025, conducted by game data analysts @gamediscoverco. The research shows the significant impact of UGC & mods support, from retention to DLC sales, and dives into consoles & VR data for the first time.

We've got an established love and passion for @stalker_thegame and their modding community.
So we're incredibly proud to confirm our collaboration with @GSC_GW to bring official cross-platform mod support to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 later this year.

That time of the year again when big single player games are declared dead.
Use your imagination.
They're not.
They just have to be good.
I'm hiring a CM to work with our community of creators, content moderation and UGC marketing support at @modiohq. It's a remote position, preferably for someone who can easily work with Europe & Australia. It's a pretty specific role, if you want to chat -> ping me on Bluesky.
We're looking for a Community Manager to join our communications & marketing team. work with our community of creators, with content moderation and supporting our partners with their UGC go-to-market plans. Remote opportunity.

To be fair, while I'm all for legalizing drugs, I do think they shouldn't be allowed for sale to minors.
#Balatro is now rated 18+ 🃏
The game's creator fires back:
"Since PEGI gave us an 18+ rating for having evil playing cards, maybe I should add microtransactions, loot boxes, and real gambling to lower that rating to 3+ like EA Sports FC"

“The forest was shrinking but the trees kept voting for the axe, for the axe was clever and convinced the trees that because his handle was made of wood he was one of them.”
As long as center/progressive parties' only offering to counter the far right is maintaining the status quo that gets rich people richer and poor people and minorities more miserable; rather than supporting proper progressive alternatives, we'll keep seeing the same outcome.
Applies to every western democracy, same everywhere. Conservatives move towards the far right, and instead of offering something else, progressives chase them to the center, and eventually the right, losing every time, and accelerating the rise of new fascism in the process.

UGC and mod support is good for your game, right? But what do the numbers really say on the actual commercial impact? We worked with @gamediscoverco to get proper data and answer exactly that question.
The results are pretty good. 👌

In less than two months, we're already celebrating 50 million mods downloads for @baldursgate3! That's quite the milestone for its amazingly creative community!✨
Thanks to our friends at @larianstudios for having us join the party!

Together, you've downloaded more than 50 million mods since Patch 7 introduced modding support!
Apparently 10,000 of those downloads were you renaming Withers to Bone Daddy.
So, uh, glad we could facilitate that.

Happy birthday to @softndeadly, a fierce advocate for humanity in games, and force for good in our industry who barely begins to realize her own strength. 🔥❤️
And to me, the friend who will always be pissed she wasn't invited to my wedding (we met two months after it happened).
