🇦🇱 Albania has entered a new phase of its EU integration by closing its first three accession chapters today.
EU commissioner called it a historic milestone for Albania; PM Edi Rama said it marks a milestone on the country's irreversible path toward EU membership.
🇲🇪 Montenegro also closed two accession chapters today, bringing the country to more than half of the chapters required for EU membership. (18/33)
Montenegro and Albania are the frontrunners for EU membership, aiming to join the bloc by 2028 and 2030, respectively.

Next up: process Kosovo’s membership application that is on the shelf for years now.

EU President Ursula von der Leyen said the EU will release €205 million in financial assistance to Kosovo early next year (and €11 million later).
She said the decision follows the peaceful transfer of local governance to newly elected Serbian mayors in the north.
