This sounds extreme and I wouldn’t have believed it even a year ago, but we’re starting to see plenty of examples of productivity gains that are an order of magnitude or two above output levels pre-AI. With the right harness, a deep understanding of your domain of what you want to build, likely a relatively new codebase (with some exceptions), a fluency of how to work with multiple agents at once, and a setup that makes it so you can test and deploy with limited friction, outputs on this level feel realistic in coding. What’s crazy is this gap doesn’t appear to be diminishing over time. You’d think that we’d see a convergence in the lines because of AI, but it turns out the more depth you had before -and willingness now to take a different approach- gives you crazy leverage. And that is only compounding as the models can take on larger work and harder problems. Right now this is most pronounced in software engineering for the obvious reasons. But there’s no reason we don’t start to see this in a number of other computer-use-sensitive domains like other scientific fields, AEC, finance, cyber, and more. Going to get quite wild.
The gap between an average engineer and the best engineers was never quite 10x, but it was meaningful. AI has made the gap at least 100x.

Ban linear algebra, probability & statistics, and vector calculus.
Top of the Democratic agenda on day 1 needs to be a pause on advanced AI development, regulation of this out of control industry, and a ban on artificial superintelligence.

the amount of intellectual laziness in the anti-ai discourse is so exhausting. there are serious questions worth asking about this technology. but reducing something with the potential to revolutionize science and medicine to the same handful of shallow talking points is just fucking embarrassing.

Smash the looms!
7 months ago, AOC and I introduced an AI data center moratorium. Last night, 43 of 44 communities voted for one locally. Americans don’t want Big Tech oligarchs wrecking the environment, gutting jobs and threatening humanity’s future. NATIONAL DATA CENTER MORATORIUM NOW

I am generally fairly open-minded to different types of music but I genuinely do not understand the appeal. I want someone to explain to me, very slowly and very clearly like I'm a five year old, what precisely is enjoyable about this. Why do you like it. Because it just feels like being on the bus with someone off their head
Man this tune is fucking brilliant. Sleaford mods best.

Starting to classify certain humans as pre opus 4.6 quality frontier models. Lots of people refusing to use tool calling and reliance on inference and low context windows and massive hallucinations. Lol

the uncomfortable truth about ai democratizing intelligence is that it also makes mediocrity harder to excuse. you have access to extraordinary tools. what you choose to do with them is still entirely on you.

I can’t believe we’re two months away from 2027 and the easiest way to save something as a PDF is still to lie to your computer and tell it you’re about to print it.

The problem with AI is that it’s causing this massive brain drain where our brightest kids are working on curing cancer and creating abundant energy instead of building derivatives exchanges

Someone is putting the law of every country into one git history. Git for Global Law turns each country's laws into a repository where every commit is a real law taking effect. So you can see exactly what the law said on any date, and which law changed every word. It started with the US Code, which hit #1 on Hacker News. The global version is growing country by country: Germany's constitution since 1949, Estonia and more so far. Free to use for anything, and perfect for feeding to an AI. github.com/lexifina/global-l…

Still blows my mind someone at Google would of came up with the idea of Google Maps / Google Earth Then suggested that they drive down every road on the planet and take pictures of it And then they actually went and did it

It's really strange to say but for a lot of companies, more tokens to the right people creates more value than hiring juniors.
