The statement below reportedly released by Gambia’s Central bank is deeply worrisome. It is requiring banks to replace existing non-Gambian employees with qualified Gambian nationals by December 31, 2026. While NiDCOM recognises Gambia's right to promote local employment and develop its workforce, such policies must be implemented fairly and in a manner that respects existing employment arrangements, legitimate work authorisations and the principles of African solidarity and regional integration. Information available indicates that 57 Nigerian professionals employed by four Nigerian-origin banks operating in Gambia which could be affected by the directive. These professionals reportedly hold valid residency and work permits and have contributed significantly to the Gambian banking sector. The economic contributions of these four banks are equally significant. Collectively, they account for approximately 37.2% of total banking industry deposits (GMD35.3 billion), 32.6% of loans (GMD7.67 billion) and 37% of industry assets (GMD44.78 billion). They also account for approximately 34.5% of investments in Central Bank bonds and reportedly contributed 90% of the funding supporting the operations of the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC). It is contradictory to encourage African investment, regional economic cooperation and the free movement of people while adopting employment measures that could lead to the indiscriminate displacement of qualified African professionals. We call on the Central Bank of Gambia to immediately reconsider and reverse the blanket replacement directive and engage the Nigerian High Commission in Banjul, affected financial institutions and relevant stakeholders towards an equitable resolution while also urging Gambian authorities to uphold the spirit of ECOWAS integration and the longstanding cordial relationship between Nigeria and The Gambia. We call for a constructive diplomatic engagement on the matter

[PHOTO NEWS] To protect these assets, fire safety must be prioritized from the planning stage integrated directly into building designs, construction, industrial operations, & facility management rather than remembered only after a disaster.~ Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo One message has been consistent: fire safety can no longer be treated as theexclusive responsibility of the Fire Service. It is a national duty.~ Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo Every factory we build, every market we expand, every school we establish, & every residential estate we develop represents an investment in our collective future. When fire destroys these assets, we lose more than structures. We lose businesses, jobs, livelihoods, & in the most tragic cases, irreplaceable lives. This is why prevention must become our priority.~ Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has introduced reforms that have opened up the economy and created enabling environment for investments. Consequently, we remain particularly concerned about the capacity of our institutions to match the growing complexity of our nation. Nigeria is expanding.~ Hon. So Wike doesn't deserve a second tenure in Abuja, but your unproductive Governor does, the fact that you people believe that everyone supporting Tinubu, Wike and the APC was bribe to do so and the ones supporting Peter Obi is Organic Love, is the main reason we will work very hard to ensure Tinubu wins.

APC members and supporters did an excellent job on the Honest Bunch Podcast yesterday. The Obidient folks were just screaming and shouting, unable to make any solid argument. They sounded just like Peter Obi. Empty. Incoherent. And mentally fatigued.

What is the Nigerian dream? Is it to be angry and curse everyone like dumb and delusional Obidients? Is it to lie with fake statistics like Peter Obi daily to paint a hopeless image of Nigeria? Listen, watch and learn from Belinda, an APC supporter from Anambra.

As promised. I visited the Calabar end of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. This is Akamkpa LG. I had to quickly come here from the Presidential Campaign Rally at UJ Esuene Stadium. Again, anyone appearing on Arise TV telling you the Highway is only in Lagos, tell them to rinse the lies off their mouth.
