Burco was once the thriving commercial heart of Togdheer —a major livestock hub rivaling Berbera and Somaliland’s first capital in 1991.
Today, our booming city still lacks a proper airport.Citizens, wake up and demand it! Let’s revive our glory. ✈️ #BurcoAirport #burco @CAAA_SL

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the Honourable @KerryMP for making history by ensuring Somaliland’s voice is heard in the British Parliament. I truly appreciate her for recognising #Somaliland, and for highlighting the strength of Somaliland’s democracy over the past 35 years. I was in Bristol last week, meeting constituents, and it’s clear that her support has made a real, tangible difference for British Somalilanders.
Today, November 4, 2026, the British Parliament has officially approved the recognition of @Somaliland, a decision set to take effect next week.
Furthermore, @British media outlets have explicitly stated and reported that @SL is an independent nation of strategic importance,

Thank you, Dr. Savio. It was a pleasure meeting you. Welcome to the Republic of Somaliland! I hope your visit strengthens the friendship between Somaliland and India and opens new opportunities for cooperation. @PrinceArihan
Today, I had one of the most humbling experiences of my visit to Somaliland.
I walked into a small barbershop in Hargeisa for a shave. A young professor named Mohammed from the Laasgeel Institute approached me and said, “You are Savio Rodrigues. It is good to have you in Somaliland.”
He then spoke to my Somaliland colleague, Khalid, and mentioned that he had been following my writings for the last three years, particularly my views and support for Somaliland.
He shook my hand and quietly left. I was genuinely touched. I asked Khalid to convey a simple message to him: I am not just a friend of Somaliland. I am more than a friend. I am a brother.
I came to Somaliland to build bridges of friendship and cooperation with the people of Somaliland. Today, in a humble barbershop, a young professor reminded me that sometimes those bridges are built long before we even realise it.
Some relationships are built through diplomacy. Others are built through the heart. Somaliland, for me, is both.
