The PHP security team is giving advance notice: Upcoming security release Wed, Oct 21st 2026, 14:00UTC, two critical vulnerabilities, both rated CVSSv4 9.2.
PHP users are encouraged to prepare to update. Earlier release if details become public or active exploit evidence.

Ocran can now do static compilation of your CRuby apps. Which means faster .exe/binary files, and more importantly less trouble with security software.

A year ago I burnt out hard after spending three years building a browser by myself. I needed to learn to relax again, and to do things just because I enjoy them
So I got back into gaming, but playing FF7 Remake I had such a bad experience I had to force myself to finish it, and I started thinking maybe I'm just not a gamer anymore... until I re-played my childhood game Golden Sun and loved every minute of it. So it wasn't me 🙃
I wanted to see how it worked, and nobody had finished decompiling it. So in July I figured I'd let AI have a go, as a little one-week hobby. Three months and hundreds of AI agents later, the first game is done: all six languages rebuild byte for byte from readable source, with the original game checking every single byte
It's been exhausting at times, but honestly it was a really good experience 😁
On the topic of mswin Ruby support. Anyone know how to safely install the MSVC buildtools without admin rights? Rubyinstaller works well without admin rights (as long as you can write onto the C drive). The devkit installs without any issues.

I translated my article introducing RubyGems/Bundler 4.1 into English. Part 1 covers override, which rewrites or drops gem dependencies from your Gemfile, and prune, which strips caches from the bundle path. Both are in 4.1.0.beta2.

Brilliant, we can now override certain gem dependencies in bundler. This is great for different Ruby implementations which can override c extensions, for instance replace nokogiri with nokogiri-pure.
