For context, I believe Owono walked away after the tackle not because he was indifferent to what had happened, but because of the circumstances surrounding the incident. His team had fought back from 2-0 down to make it 2-2, and with the game in its final minute, he probably felt compelled to stop that attack and preserve a point for his team, especially as the last man.
Even in the video, you can see a teammate pat him on the back, almost suggesting that he had taken one for the team. At that moment, nobody could have anticipated just how serious the consequences would be.
Football is an emotionally charged game, played under immense pressure. In those split seconds, instinct can sometimes take over before rational thought has a chance to catch up. Was the challenge reckless? Absolutely. But I find it difficult to believe that he went into that tackle with the intention of seriously hurting Miguel.
This is an incredibly unfortunate situation. One player’s attempt to save a point has resulted in a potentially devastating outcome for another. There are no real winners here, just a very sad situation for everyone involved.
