My beloved Arsenal-supporting dad sadly died in the early hours. He fought bravely after breaking his hip & getting pneumonia before Christmas. Having witnessed the kindness and care shown by the NHS I’d like to thank all the nurses & doctors for their professionalism. RIP Dad 💔 – at East, England

After a big 48 hours here in Munich thought I’d pop into the city’s museum for Modern Art for a spot of culture

Stopped for a coffee and a red and white treat here in the historic centre of Munich. The local paper’s (excellent) headline in its sports section reads: “Rice crashes the Kompany Party…”

This is Viscardigasse, a narrow pedestrian street in the historic centre of Munich. It is nicknamed Drückebergergasse which translates as “Shirkers Alley.” When Hitler was in power it was compulsory for pedestrians to do a Nazi salute at a now destroyed shrine to the Munich Beer Hall Putsch on Odeonsplatz round the corner. Citizens who opposed the regime would use this alley Viscardigasse to bypass the Nazi shrine and avoid giving the salute. Such an act of passive civil disobedience earned the nickname Drückebergergasse - “Shirker's Alley.” However undercover Gestapo would monitor who walked down the quiet alley, and if you did it more than once you would be arrested. The bronze trail I’m walking alongside here is an official memorial to those who never came back

Seeing as it’s a lovely sunny day I’m trying to blow away the cobwebs by having a stroll around after two big days here in Munich

Guten morgen from Munich. What’s German for horrendously hungover? A top, top day yesterday catching up with so many old pals and seeing so many good people. Having been to 14 of the 16 games between Arsenal and Bayern I have to say that was one of the best attacking displays against Munich stretching across 25 years of this fixture. PS thank you to everyone who came up to me and said they read my work, very kind of you. Hope I wasn’t too drunk that you didn’t get any sense out of me, come on you Gunners, cheers 🙏🏼

Twenty minute walk from the nearest metro to the away end turnstiles. Welcome to Euro aways. And you wonder why away teams sing at the Emirates. Because they’re treated like visitors rather than a hindrance

Catching up with a table of old Arsenal pals after making it to the world famous Hofbrauhaus. Last time I was in here was before I saw England beat Germany 5-1 at the old Olympiastadion

For those of you who didn’t follow me during my month in Germany covering the Euros I must say I do like a plate of currywurst. Lunch here in Nuremberg. See you back in Munich later, cheers
