As a kid I was a mad NBA fan. Every cent of pocket money I had was spent on basketball cards and I was known for wearing a full jersey-and-shorts uniform to school.
With this in mind I have built @hoopsjunkie_io to be as kid friendly as possible. No ads, no gambling, just hoops.
Mr efficient, @KDTrey5 leads Houston to the victory in their season opener vs Dallas.
Just unreal to still be this good at 38. We are witnessing some all-time greats ageing out like few in NBA history ever have.
While I'm tweeting WNBA (apologies NBA peeps) I want to shout out this defensive possession from Isobel Borlase from game 2.
Look at her stone wall and then stuff Burtons's shot here. Then check out the bench afterwards - this Dream team really celebrate their defensive wins.
Gabby Williams hasn't been shooting fantastically but the Valks are still so a lot better when she's on the floor.
And then there is Rhyne Howard.
If you watch the box scores you would think she has been a negative. But her defense has been PHENOMENAL. A few things here:
1. Dream defensive rating is -11.1 better when she on
2. ATL's Stl %
3. GSV's eFG% when she's on vs off (poor Gabby)
The on/off and lineup numbers REALLY like what Isobel Borlase is doing for the Dream.
Check out the eFG% on/off diff. Helped by some poor shooting from Rhyne, Jordin and Allisha who are all shooting 30% or worse from the field.
Some interesting on/off numbers for Angel Reese so far in the series. It's obvious she's been impactful when she's in the game but Atlanta are holding up ok defensively when she sits (at least by these metrics).

Heat with a 143.7 defensive rating with Bam on the floor tonight via @hoopsjunkie_io. SHEESH what a weird opener.
With Real app just launching a chat bot, I want to get this in-development feature out there. It is very rough and tbh not ready for public launch.

For full context this runs about 10-20 seconds behind a real-time live broadcast so AFAIK that’s a bit unique. It’s also much more granular than I’ve ever seen, showing exactly who has the ball, etc.
As for whether it’s actually useful, I’m not so sure.
