If schools committed to telling the truth this might help, but they have twisted themselves into a pretzel and turned education into customer service. This happens all the time with students with IEPs as well.

That’s not really necessary. They could simply mandate expanding the number of students private schools serve, or they could make them all specialized high schools so children don’t have to hunger game the SHSAT every year. They should do more for that non profit benefit.

What does that have to do with the argument that public schools are inherently unsafe. If that’s true how are Asian students thriving?

Literally called the Mississippi miracle. There isn’t confusion about what is takes to solve the problem. There structural lack of will in the people with power to affect the change we need.

Teachers at these schools will admit this. They have behavioral standards for students. The rigor argument is abject nonsense. Private school function primarily as vehicles of white flight for a long time.

Private schools pay no taxes because of their non profit status, so they are subsidized segregation academies.

Private school function now, the way they have for most of history, as a vehicle for white flight. What is the universal metric of rigor we’re using? Most ppl have no idea what private schools are doing.

Until somebody can explain why private school kids don’t need to pass it to get a diploma the rest is just noise. Seems kinda inequitable really🧐

Private schools are a (tax evading) vehicle for white flight, then and now. They’ve always just been good at confusing ppl with marketing and rhetoric. Ppl like Lincoln who attend(ed) them, just love pretending otherwise.

Do you think Packer should be forced to expand their upper school to accept more students, like the ones who get high scores on the SHSAT but don’t get placed? (If we’re talking about expanding access) If a test shouldn’t decide, parents income shouldn’t decide either.

He could mandate Packer (and the rest) be required to take the high scorers that didn’t get placed. Now that is reform ppl could get behind.

Say that. The only question left is will Democrats ever learn. 🤔 time will tell.

These ppl are gaslighting the hell out of you to cover for modern day segregation academies. A lot of the parents are getting tuition paid by the state bc they’ve sued the local public school for lack of FAPE (which doesn’t apply to private schools). A whole racket.

It has the power of lore and it is maddening. They get to opt out of all the things private schools are required to do. It is segregationist policy that is the benefit to them.

And the Ivy League.
