🚨 Today marks my final day with the Racing Post. It’s been a brilliant four and a half years, and I can’t believe where the time has gone.
The last two years, where I was fortunate to be Lambourn correspondent, has been fantastic, and I’m looking forward to the next challenge
I spoke to Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy on the memorable season the Kingsclere trainer is having, and how it could still end up with a first trainers' championship.

Racing Abandoned | Friday 23 October
Unfortunately, racing on Friday 23rd October for the BetVictor Flat Finale with Oktoberfest has been abandoned.
Following this morning’s inspection, some parts of the track are not raceable due to waterlogging - attendees will receive an email with further information shortly.
There will be an inspection on Friday morning ahead of Saturday’s racing and updates will be provided for Saturday as soon as they are available.

Very good chasing debut by Talk To The Man on his first start for Skelton. Klimt Madrik showed promising signs in second and looks to be a nice prospect over fences for Toby Lawes xitter.cf/AtTheRaces/status/2112…
Very impressive! 👀
Talk To The Man travels beautifully en route to an easy triumph on chasing debut at @WorcesterRaces...

Oisin Murphy believes the trainers’ championship is “within touching distance” for Andrew Balding and will do “everything in my power” to provide his long-time supporter with a maiden title victory attheraces.com/at-the-races-…
Interesting beginners' chase at Worcester today. Klimt Madrik, second in last season's Challow Hurdle, Scorpio Rising and Talk To The Man, making his debut for Dan Skelton after winning twice for Paul Nicholls last term, all with chances on their first start over fences

Genuinely one of the most heartbreaking interviews I’ve seen of a sportsman at rock bottom. The interviewer gives a perfect example of how to be there for someone struggling. The compassion shown. The hug. The kindness. Hope Mark gets the help he needs.

Marcus Townend Fundraiser
About Marcus
After time with local newspapers and the Sporting Life, he worked for the Daily Mail for 35 years, graduating to becoming its racing editor and correspondent – a diligent, principled, talented and tenacious journalist.
Marcus's accident
It is nearly a year since Marcus fell off his bike and suffered the first of three bleeds in his brain. Three months later, he had gradually recovered well enough from the first two to spend a month at home. The third bleed, which occurred at the end of March, following a plate insertion to repair his skull, proved the most damaging, from which he is still recuperating. Too late, he was finally diagnosed in July to have mild haemophilia. Despite his amazing determination to communicate clearly, self care and mobilise, he will require ongoing neurophysiotherapy and much care from others to achieve his independent potential.
How you can help?
This year's HWPA Derby Awards Lunch (Monday 7th December) will be combined with a fundraiser for Marcus..

Explosive stuff from Martinez, who is clearly saying what everyone is thinking, but I fear this could be the end of his United career. Never a dull moment with this team
Bombshell i/view with Lisandro Martinez on Prime: "It's a reflection of how our club is at the moment. We expect more from people upstairs to bring in players to compete. It's easy to blame the coach, players. I expect more from our technical director." #MUFC

Great to welcome Mauricio Pochettino to #TattsOctober Book 2, alongside @newsellspark's Graham Smith-Bernal, chatting to @_tomstanley_ about his love of horses.
Seeing him go for the historic third Arc victory would have been special, but he owes nothing to anyone and deserves to go out on top of his game
🚨 Dual Arc winner #Daryz has been retired from racing following his historic second victory on Sunday.
Renowned for his exceptional turn of foot, the son of #SeaTheStars now embarks on a new chapter as part of the Aga Khan stallion roster.

Roger Varian could not be happier with his German Group 1 winner Saddadd, who he believes is flying 'under the radar' ahead of Sunday's Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp racingpost.com/news/festival…
Nicky Henderson says Jango Baie will not make the King George, and that Lulamba could be the yards able replacement for the Christmas showpiece.
He also gives an update on a few of his other jumps stars for the season ahead racingpost.com/news/jump-rac…
No Ascot for Constitution Hill this weekend, but Nicky Henderson has told me his plan for his Flat superstar - and it is certainly an eyecatching one racingpost.com/news/racehors…

That’s 13 winners from 22 runners for Charlie Appleby in September after a brilliant treble at Newbury 🔥🔵⚪️
Oakford comfortably gets off the mark for the first time at Newbury. He looks a smart prospect for @RogerTealRacing, who fired in a third successive winner
