Unimaginable evil has and continues to happen under both of these flags. Neither is worthy of the support of the United States.

When I was an 11 year old boy living in Council Bluffs, Iowa, our very own Senator Tom Harkin changed my life and gave me, and so many other disabled Americans, an on-ramp to society.
Throughout our campaign, Iโve said it will be beautifully poetic when the man who takes back Senator Harkinโs seat is only here because of his work. Iowa, together, we made history, and we wrote beautiful poetry.
Thank you, Iowa!

Charlie Kirk once said that Texas would never turn blue in his lifetime. And what do you know, he was right.

For years, my dad battled Parkinsonโs disease. On Election Night, I got to tell him, โPop, we won.โ
This morning, he passed away.
A part of me believes he held on just long enough to see his son make it to Congress.
He wonโt be there when Iโm sworn in. But I know heโll be standing right beside me.
Rest easy, Daddy. Iโll take it from here. These next two years are for you โค๏ธ

Sorkin himself couldnโt write a scenario where a Mississippi senator refuses to advance the nomination of a qualified black judge against the advice of other republicans because heโs pro-lgbt, then him running for senate and beating the senator who rejected him

Tonight, I make a solemn promise to every single Texan. Whether you voted for me or Governor Abbott, or felt so betrayed by a broken politics that you did not vote at all.
Hear what Texas said today, loud and clear: Your government belongs to you. And as your governor, I will never forget it. There will be no special set of rules for the wealthy and powerful. No looking the other way when someone in my own party does wrong.
The trust you have placed in me tonight is not a blank check. It is a sacred responsibility. And I intend to earn it every single day.

Remember when Charlie Kirk got killed and Republicans were like YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU HAVE UNLEASHED, TREMBLE IN FEAR AT WHATโS COMING and then nothing happened and then they lost everything?

When I came to Congress in 1987, there were only twelve Democratic women. We made it our mission to change that.
Today, we celebrate the election of more than 100 Democratic women to the House โ a tremendous joy and source of pride.
When women succeed, America succeeds!

I was with Ann Richards on election night in 1994 when she conceded to Gov. Bush (t was one of those big brick looking cell phones). I was next to her when the lights went out for Democrats in Texas. For 32 years I have been waiting, praying, grieving loss after loss. Cycle after cycle. Election after election.
And tonight, we elected James Talarico to the United States Senate and Gina Hinojosa Governor of Texas.
Ann is the reason Iโm in politics at all. She gave a young gay man from Houston his first shot, and she taught me that the first step is to stop waiting for someone else to do it. Tonight, nobody waited. Not the block walkers who knocked doors in August heat for candidates everyone said couldnโt win. Not the organizers who kept registering voters in counties the consultants had written off. Not the candidates who ran and lost in โ02 and โ06 and โ14 and โ18 and โ22 and did it anyway, because every one of those campaigns built something the next one stood on. Not the donors who gave when the smart money said Texas was a lost cause. Not the young people who looked at a state that had never once voted for them and decided to make it vote for them. Not the Tejano moms in the Valley, the suburban dads in Collin County, the church ladies in my beloved Houston who have been doing this work since before James Talarico was born.
Tonight belongs to all of them. To Gina and James and their families, who carried the weight of 30 years of hope with grace. To the staff who havenโt slept since the primary. To every Texan who got told no for three decades and showed up one more time.
The lights are back on in Texas. I know Ann is watching from heaven tonight, and I know exactly what that grin looks like.
Thank you, Texas. Thank you, everyone. Now letโs go to work. #TX2026
