Remembering Ruby Dee on her birthday with love and gratitude. An extraordinary artist and committed freedom fighter, Ruby used her voice to tell our stories, affirm our dignity and confront injustice. Daddy considered Ruby and her husband, Ossie Davis, close personal friends. They helped raise funds and public support for his work and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. May we honor her by using our voices, our talents and our influence to serve others and advance justice. #RubyDee #OssieDavis #MLK #CivilRights

Three-year-old Nevada Pierre was dominating against older kids in a Florida youth soccer game when a dispute erupted. The league said there were issues with pushing and parental behavior; the family said he was removed simply for being too good. Police were called, and the family was asked to leave (officers later said no one was arrested or trespassed). The family has linked the treatment to both his skill and the fact that he is Black. Let’s make sure this little phenom’s name is known for his talent

Murkowski is the biggest name in Alaska politics. This is a woman who won her Senate seat as a write-in candidate. Her endorsement is huge and speaks to the rot and corruption in the GOP.

You Democrats, we in Africa are relying on you. Trump has messed up the world beyond what you Americans see. Vote out anything to do with his Republicans. Thanks in advance.

Philadelphia is preparing to become the first city in the nation to offer this mortgage model, with lower interest rates, no private mortgage insurance, and credit scores as low as 620.
.@PhillyMayor Cherelle Parker tells @EmilyRPeck that the city hopes to launch its historic mortgage program “before the end of 2026.” “Imagine getting a mortgage, a 30-year commitment, with no PMI,” Parker said, and accessible “with less-than-perfect credit.” #AxiosLive

When COVID-19 cost thousands of Marylanders their jobs, unemployment benefits kept roofs over their heads. Two men have been indicted for allegedly stealing more than $300,000 in those benefits using the identities of at least 17 people. Stealing resources people depend on to survive a crisis is an unconscionable crime. My Office will continue holding those who commit fraud accountable. Save Sudan!
We must not become accustomed to mass death in Sudan. The UN Human Rights Office has documented at least 306 people killed by drone strikes during the first three weeks of October. Hundreds more were injured. Every life lost mattered. Every grieving family deserves more than a world that briefly takes notice and moves on. I’m praying for those mourning loved ones and everyone living in fear of the next attack. Nonviolence calls us to protect life, confront injustice and act to end the killing. Contact your elected officials. Demand protection for civilians, safe access for humanitarian aid, and credible investigations and accountability for attacks on civilians. Insist on sustained diplomacy to end this war and support a lasting peace shaped by the Sudanese people. The people of Sudan are part of our human family. We cannot let the duration of this war diminish our responsibility to act. #Sudan #ProtectCivilians #HumanRights

The death of 1-year old Kohen Wiley is a tragedy that demands truth and accountability. An officer opened fire into a vehicle outside a Mississippi Walmart after accusing Kohen's mother of shoplifting, even though receipts proved she legally purchased the diapers. Kohen Wiley was inside the vehicle when he was fatally shot by police officer. The decision by state authorities to decline pressing charges fails to honor the standard of justice every family deserves. The King Center calls for a thorough review and full justice for Kohen and his family. #JusticeForKohenWiley #TheKingCenter #EqualJustice #Accountability #BeLove
