This is another reason why donors are still giving at increased level of generosity. They are worried about the virus here and overseas and they feel helpless that the government has reverted to ‘make it up as we go along’. Giving is a means to regain some control.

Coronavirus research findings. Just like you, the donors we have spoken to are fed up with the pandemic. They want a break from it. But that does not mean that they are fed up giving to the organisations fighting its impact (at all levels). 1/4

Most digital metrics are measuring how the donor gave, not how they're solicited - and that's the metric that matters. How much digital is driven by DM/in person, etc.? MOST orgs don't have bandwidth to customize URL for each appeal. "Digital" is actually just online giving.

Heartbreaking news. The wonderful @spjoyaux is in hospice. Simone is my hero. Her deep love of humanity drove her to fight for justice. She’ll live on in the memories of all those who knew. Warmest thoughts to Tom, her partner who I know she adored.

Few fundraisers have influenced me as much as Simone Joyaux. She was such a powerful force for good and kindness. I can't think of many people who have made such a difference to so many. I shall say a prayer for @spjoyaux and @othertomahern tonight. Sending love to them both.

This from @vikihayden 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
In November I hand wrote Christmas appeal letters to all those who had made a donation in the past 2 years... 86% of those who got a letter donated! Can’t help thinking the personal touch of a handwritten letter at a very digital heavy time made all the difference 💛 #fundraising

Tiny pro tip from Lisa: If your #nonprofit is sending 4 #fundraising appeals and 4 donor newsletters each year, space them around 6 weeks apart. That way they get good in-home time. And be sure to bookend with emails if you can. Write on! ✍️💌🙏💕

cont'd from 10/ Q: Did you take time off to complete the course? Me: No. But in retrospect I wouldn’t have taken during year-end #fundraising season :) I studied at 4am, wknds, late night, to meet work deadlines. This is not to brag. Only to show it's doable AND worthwhile. 11/
