New plan: Find a Husband. Then together: Start a vegetable garden. Cook good foods. Smoke meats. Build a chicken coop. Plant fruit trees. Make jam. Bake sourdough. Brew kombucha. Play music. Woodshop in the garage. Go camping. Paint the walls. Read books. Take a nap. Make love.

was wondering to my husband earlier why people like Nathan Fielder's comedy so much when they really dislike those same behaviors in real life his explanation is that ppl like it only when they are "in on the bit", and that feeling "brought in" is also why they like YCSE so much

speaking of documentaries, "Get Back" is really good

@occamsriver did you ever see this one? It's very interesting relationally and I'd be super curious to hear your impressions

Amanda Seyfried interprets everything in terms of archetypes and stories and then acts out giant emotions corresponding to those. So she plays "The Normie" to Nathan Fielder's "The Autist", who struggles to assemble incongruent textual and facial information into a coherent story

which is why I think it is difficult for me to pinpoint why people like this movie as much as they do; almost everything is like this basically all the time
Replying to @lisatomic5
Did you like it? I'm having trouble figuring out why everyone is fussing over it 🙄 *it kinda feels like being autistic re to my autistic friends* 😂

ironically I need someone to discuss YCSE with me without getting mad if I keep asking them "ok but why?" à la Nathan Fielder

I'm like 50 mins into YCSE and the husband seems like he's on stimulants and a narcissist and Elizabeth Holmes seems like she has mild dementia or something

Amanda Seyfried is noticeably the dumbest person in the movie, it's kind of jarring when she shows up

I would have a 0% success rate at predicting when people laugh during this movie

was talking to my kids today about how, one day, they will be explaining to their own kids that something good used to exist in their childhood (now) but the kids will not understand why it mattered

I'd do it if I were blonde. Not sure the costume would work with dark hair

I showed my 15yo that Dessa voice demo, and his response was that there seems to be no good reason to want AI voices to be indistinguishable from humans, only bad reasons (e.g. tricking people) I agree with him, this seems like a net bad technology! why does anyone want this?

wow it sounds exactly as retarded as a regular person
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

I wish they would stop making this stuff more "realistic". I have no interest in convincingly fake empathy whether it's from humans or AI
