We need this in St James Street, more space for people.
I've always believed Oxford Street could be so much more than a road.
Today we begin a new chapter as the nation’s high street goes traffic free, creating a place where people can spend time, enjoy the atmosphere and experience the very best of our city.

ALT Mayor of London Sadiq Khan stands on a large green installation on Oxford Street featuring the words “Welcome to the New Oxford St”. Surrounding signs read “Oxford St is changing”, “More space”, “Less traffic” and “We’re just getting started”, with shops, street decorations and pedestrians visible along the road behind.

Under Lula leadership in Brazil, Amazon deforestation has just dropped by a record 41.8%
Lula has been an excellent leader for our planet
Electoral politics can feel like doom and gloom, but tonight there’s hope! 💚✊
In Serbia, students, the left and Greens have won against nationalist far right.
In Brazil, Lula is set to triumph over the fascismo of the Bolsonaros.
The tide can turn. Solidarity can win! 🌹

This would be a HUGE deal. Climate scientists and senior campaigners were privately ‘okay’ about Jackdaw: it’s gas, and small. Rosebank is oil, and far larger. A real red line.
No way this happens when Greens were polling 20%.
🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham and John Healey are set to force the approval of Rosebank despite the Energy Secretary's reluctance
Minister: "Both Andy and John have decided Rosebank needs to go ahead. The economic and energy security case is so strong"

This is big.
The UK’s National Security Advisor had nothing to do with banning Palestine Action as terrorists.
Even though the question of terrorism is at the core of his job.
So who did push the proscription of Palestine Action?
The walls are closing in.
Increasingly worried about escalating Yemen - Saudi Arabia war. Let us not forget Saudi has been conducting a war for years against Yemen, in a story with more twists and turns than a soap opera but this one has resulted in real lives and a real country being bombed to moon dust.
Chaired the Eastern Road Partnership launch with 40 residents and Labour councillors Gary Wilkinson & Theresa Mackey and Green councillor Mark Strong.
Great commitment to work together on traffic, development, pollution and safer streets, putting residents first.
I am unhappy at the way in which and some of the content of the Zionism is Racism motion passed at Green Party conference last week
I’m thinking hard about my future but wish to see how leadership & party react/take legitimate concerns forward in reconciliation and not division

Mayor of Saint-Denis Bally Bagayoko protects a line of French students from police as they attack the protesters.
France is seeing its largest student protests in decades, with youth demanding government action on teacher shortages, dilapidated classrooms, and overcrowded conditions. Entering their third week, the demonstrations have broadened into wider public outrage over general government austerity and budget cuts.
The French student protests are inspiring.
Students out on the street protesting for better funding, resources and pay for teachers, this is solidarity based on their material reality and we all must learn from its successes.
More reason we need a UK school students union.

This is good.
But don’t wait till 2029 to “put it to the people” do it now!
Let’s get a cross party majority for tax change now to fix social care.
When a politician in power says: “I’ll fight the next General Election on this issue”, they really mean : “I’m delaying doing anything about it.”
Andy’s right: We need NHS style social care, paid by national taxation. But we need it now, not 3 years, if they win next election.

Andy Burnham has promised a break with neoliberalism.
The more I learn about Camden Labour’s record in recent years, and their candidate in this by-election’s record, the more ridiculous that sounds.
The weirdest thing? The Greens aren’t shouting about it. Camden is ground zero for private development, asset managers and outsourcing when it comes to London authorities. Even lots of potential Green voters seem unaware of precisely how bad it is.
LOTS of votes still to win.

I still can't wrap my head around what's happened in Turkey. The rounding up of LGBTQ+ activists, arbitrary detention; and governments around the world don't give a single solitary fuck.
This should result in sanctions, diplomatic action, but hey it's 'just' us queers, right?

2. Each person should be capped at £5k over a rolling 5 year period.
3. Collecting agents, such as trade unions or political clubs, should be allowed, but must report who contributed and the actual amounts.
Lewes Bonfire is an amazing spectacle and an important part of our Sussex heritage.
As always, I urge everyone who wants to celebrate with us to make their way to the county town.
Keep safe, follow the Bonfire marshals’ instructions, but don’t be put off attending.
Councils, emergency services, and transport providers in East Sussex have urged visitors to avoid travelling to Lewes' bonfire celebrations as higher levels of attendance than normal are expected this year.
