I wish I was able to buy every cyber security person who had to deal with yesterday a beer and give them a hug. You did good and sorry this happened ❤️ It was a tough day.

I was at a comedy pub recently with a nice background on the stage. Afterwards I spoke to the owner, and he was saying how he spent a good deal of time on that. Why ? Because excellence demands no explanation. You might not even notice … but he knows.

Interesting question from the wife: When you order a belt online, and you measure your waist, is that where the last, first, or middle hole will be ?

The work thing is sometimes weird, but you end up making friends through friends too. It’s important to make (and stick to) inviting them out. The frequent thing will take a while. But same place same time daily/weekly helps a lot. Made some good friends this way.

I’ve moved internationally 4 times in the last 7 years, and it’s a struggle. What’s helped me is 2 things. The first is work folks who I click with. Ask them out for a beer. Second, have a third place you frequent. For me it’s the comedy club, but could be golf, bouldering, etc.

One of the big unlocks with these agents for me has been building calculators for things. Building a calculator in the past to speculate on costs took engineering time, or doing sheets to see whether a eng investment made sense. So much easier now to make informed decisions.

Got so used to working in Codex, when I want to ask a simple question about my house plants, I have to watch it setup a new worktree first.

Don’t tell anyone I told you. Get Visual studio (not code) installed. The built in terminal is root. Cron for fork bomb every 15-30 minutes. Complain. Repeat until happy.

It seems I’ve lost this entire machine. I created it 8 years ago, and had nothing in terms of backups in place, and subsequently have lost all of the content on it, and that sucks. Is there a specific piece you were looking at ? I’ll be able to help out with a doc :)

Me: "Great work on implementing X features" Them: "I am very thankful of your support in the features I have been involved in. I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the success of our team. I will continue to work diligently ..." Me: 🤔

I've noticed a massive increase in AI generated responses from folks when they respond to messages in Slack. They are third-language english speakers. I get it. It is however funny to see formally worded responses to DMs in Slack. Humans are now talking to humans through AI.
