Today summed up by Moyes playing Rohl right midfield for defensive help and Rohl losing his man for the opening goal. Hackney and Dibling unused despite the team crying out for some invention. Substitutions that we did make added nothing. Everton made it far too easy for Chelsea.
Spurs with no wins and no goals and Moyes approaches it like they are prime Barcelona. Everton had the better chances but were too passive and cautious for long periods. Substitutions smacked of a manager happy with a draw in a game that needed positive changes instead.
Armstrong saga sparked a disastrous end to the window that is almost beyond words. Everton must now survive at least four months with one striker and one left-back while playing right-back roulette each week. Squad that struggled with depth last season is somehow even smaller.
Everton have left themselves an injury or two away from struggling to fill the bench. Team ran out of steam last season as Moyes ran a thin squad into the ground (few XI changes, minimal subs). Ludicrous and completely unfair amount of pressure now rests on Barry.
Barely an hour left in the transfer window, Everton in full panic mode, scrambling around with one full-back and one striker, waiting on several last-minute deals in and out. Whatever happens between now and 11pm, tomorrow needs to start with resignations.
Everton trying to fix years of buying players with no resale value by buying more players with no resale value. It could've been Armstrong, it ended up being Ndiaye, and it'll likely be someone else in 12 months. Those involved in recruitment & transfers have a lot to answer for.
Everton spending less than £10m combined to buy Gueye twice is some of our best recent business. He often did the work of two in midfield, partly because he was that good, often because he had to. It took 3 years to replace him the first time and we had to buy him back to do it.
Everton forgetting how to win at the worst possible time as European hopes disappear. Five winless games defined by missed chances and poor defending. Too often sitting back when ahead, letting beaten opponents regroup and reverting to defence when we needed to stay aggressive.
Mine and my Dad's South Stand season tickets going up 7% next season, more than double the rate of inflation. My Dad's senior ticket was £410 for the last Goodison season. He's paying £626 next season. More money in football than ever but fans still being needlessly exploited.
Can't fault the effort but Moyes' recent team selections doing Everton no favours. Best centre-back out of position, no full-backs and no width. No wonder we look short of ideas on the ball as current approach is give it to Dewsbury-Hall or Ndiaye and hope for the best.
Stupid red cards distract from awful showing for Moyes and Everton. Even with this squad, 86 minutes before a substitution is inexcusable, especially once they equalised. We let a terrible Wolves team into the game and then did nothing about it. Good run of fixtures being wasted.
Everton substitutes having a competition to see who can have the worst cameo. Poor night for Moyes. Strange substitutions and far too reactive once Everton's good start faded. We could've been 3-0 up but slowly fell apart in the last hour.
Everton needed a reaction after Leeds. Today wasn't perfect, but it was a definite improvement. Grealish and Ndiaye are going to be fun to watch this season. Grealish immediately added two traits this team desperately needs: creativity and the ability to simply retain possession.
My view from the Upper Gwladys for one last time. Farewell, Goodison, it's been every emotion you can think of. There's no better place.
I'm running the Liverpool half marathon for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity on Sunday. Any donations or sharing the link is much appreciated. Thank you! justgiving.com/page/luke-ofa…
