i was thinking today about how it’s odd no filmmaker has ever done a true non-animation adaptation of SWAN LAKE (BLACK SWAN doesn’t count). it’s really such a perfect tragic fantasy romance. image in my surprise finding that luca guadagnino & felicity jones were working on one

yeah i’m still trying to figure out the reason for all the narrative changes that were only to the men’s stories & all i came up with was they were trying to make the men look better by applying more modern norms/lens?? but i thought it made everyone look worse

i’m just shocked by how they manged create an adaptation that is far more male centered and lenient towards that entire sex than its source material written in the early 19th century
