Good one - check this out Two key takeaways -- 1. "As a retail trader, embrace risk-premia harvesting strategies - learn to live with larger/longer drawdowns." 2. "Get better and bigger at trading long-term trends and momentum strategies"
In 2024, Jane Street, a Wall Street high-frequency trading (HFT) firm, made a profit of over $2.3 billion in India alone. In 2023, they made about a billion dollars. India is one of their most profitable markets. Do retail traders stand a chance against HFT traders? Here is Varsity’s take on this. 🧵👇(1/8)

Replying to @Shishir_Mayya
Yes, posting any performance metrics is against sebi guidelines, we removed all such information from our portal, but posted in telegram channel, as we were trading with our own capital, thought we could share that, unfortunately even that is also against sebi guidelines it seems, so we had to refrain from posting any form of performance related information.

Until there is clarity on this interpretation, I would refrain from posting trading logs or verified P&L Happy trading all 🫡
I just wanted to share that I've heard from reliable sources and individuals with first-hand experience that SEBI may indirectly interpret Verified P&L as 'assured' returns. Without brokers providing Verified P&L, individuals cannot share it. It would be interesting to watch how things would unfold now😃 @zerodha

Personal biases and trading: ------------------------------ Many ask, " How can I avoid personal biases during trading and follow the market without any bias?" To remove our prejudices and allow the market to tell us what to do, we must 'give up control' 😊 We are designed to control situations/events/people naturally; thus, controlling 'how much' money to make from the markets will be an obvious/no-brainer option. However, to relinquish control, we must first abandon the belief that we control how much money we produce. To trade profitably, we must allow the market, not us, to determine profits. Profits are determined by whether our approach is successful or in drawdown mode based on market conditions, not whether we accurately predict the market 😀 Ultimately, the market determines profits through its movements. Please recognize that market professionals are not magicians. 99% do not profit from their predictions, but the 1% who do so for one reason only: they did not make money because they predicted the markets accurately but because they 'traded' the markets correctly (with sound trading principles). When discussing sound trading principles, we mean adept money management (MM), position sizing, and risk control. So, trade your approach (+ strong trading practices) and let the market handle the rest. Please understand that the market gives and takes away ₹₹. Our goal should be to implement a strategy/MM that generates more ₹₹ than subtracts. Think hard about it this weekend 👍

Pro trader attitude: Focused (on the trade only) Emotionally Stable (treat winning and losing the same) Disciplined (in trade management) Confident (in methodology & risk management) Objective (Unbiased) Patient (to wait for the opportunity & to maximize profit) FEDCOP 😊

Today - No trade day !! Maintaining daily updates of my trading journal online has become increasingly challenging due to my demanding/erratic schedule. Consequently, from now on, I have decided to hold off posting the daily P&L number (I don't post trade logs anyway). As usual, I will share the verified P&L at the end of each month(with the link). I will start compounding this account, and let's see where it goes in the next 3 yrs

The concept of "intuition" in trading is often debated by many traders. In my opinion, only a select few traders develop a genuine 'feel' for the market, which typically comes after decades of experience, rather than in the early stages of trading 😊 I am penning my thoughts and posting them as a pic !!

In the world of trading, seasoned professionals frequently outmatch inexperienced amateurs, resulting in the transfer of funds from the latter to the former. This occurs because amateurs often act on optimism rather than well-informed strategies, leaving their accounts vulnerable to being siphoned by more skilled traders. Over time, the wealth of undisciplined traders tends to flow toward the accounts of those who exhibit discipline and expertise in their trading practices. The concept seems too simple, but it works in any profession - consistency with discipline almost always comes ahead 😊 Of course, there are a lot of other things that make a successful trader (the timeframe to gauge success is at least a decade or two)
