"Every man is said to have his peculiar ambition. Whether it be true or not, I can say, for one, that I have no other so great as that of being truly esteemed of my fellow-men, by rendering myself worthy of their esteem."

SERGEY NAZAROV LINK:NYC KEYNOTE
The new global financial system is taking shape, powered by Chainlink.
Today, @SergeyNazarov showed how Chainlink is enabling the next era of global finance, where traditional finance and DeFi converge into a unified onchain financial system.
By connecting tokenized assets, financial institutions, and liquidity across blockchains and existing financial systems, Chainlink unlocks an entirely new era of global markets, lending, and credit.
The future of finance is onchain, and it starts with Chainlink.

"Capitalism created the possibility of the win win win. It used to be a zero sum game where somebody won, somebody else lost.
The biggest mistake people make they still think we're in a zero sum world. They're obsessed with some billionaires because Bernie Sanders thinks that @JeffBezos and @elonmusk somehow stole the money from the people.
They don't understand that it's this prosperity machine that's creating more, not just for those billionaires, but for everything that they're touching. They're creating value for their customers, they're creating value for their employees. Their suppliers are flourishing, their investors are seeing their capital go up. It can be reinvested and compound.
All philanthropy ultimately comes from business. That's where the profits are.
Where does all the taxes come from? It ultimately comes from business as well.
This is the engine that's lifting humanity out. The entrepreneurs are the drivers of that engine. Somebody like Elon Musk, he gets a very, very, very tiny sliver of the value that he creates for the whole world."

A Chinese story I can't stop thinking about.
Cai Lei was a vice president at JD.com — a workaholic who helped take the company public. In 2019, he was diagnosed with ALS and given two to five years to live.
He didn't retreat. He called it his "final startup."
He went on to build the world's largest grassroots ALS research platform: a patient database of over 20,000 people, hundreds of scientists working together, nearly 300 drug pathways pursued, more than 30 now in clinical trials. His wife Duan Rui left her partnership at an accounting firm to fund the research through livestreaming — over 100 million yuan invested, and she has never taken a cent in salary.
This year, RAG-17, a homegrown drug he helped advance, completed Phase II trials. The findings, published in Nature Medicine: disease-causing proteins in patients' cerebrospinal fluid fell by nearly 60%, and the disease's progression was held back.
Here's the part that stays with me. Cai Lei has sporadic ALS — the drug targets genetic mutations he doesn't have. The medicine he fought so hard for may never save him.
His answer: I'm not trying to save myself. I'm trying to save others. Even if I fall in the darkness before dawn, I'll make sure the path is ready — so those who come after me can stand on my shoulders and step into the sunlight.
Today, only his eyes can move. With an eye-tracking device he types around 60 words a minute and works ten-hour days.
One detail worth noting: after his diagnosis, JD.com introduced a policy to cover the education and living expenses of any employee’s children if the employee suffers a serious tragedy while in service, continuing until the children turn 22. That policy exists because of Cai.

日本銀行が日本国民のために行動しているのに対し、現政権は外国の同盟国や外国の組織の利益のために動いています。
このようなことを言うのは断腸の思いですが、その結果として生じる苦しみは、10倍にも増幅されることになるでしょう。

In @Nature this week, our new research shows how machine learning can improve weather forecasts two to six weeks out, a timeframe that's historically been very difficult to predict.
It's exciting to see the potential of this work to help us better prepare for extreme weather, manage natural resources, and make more informed decisions in agriculture.
There's a broader lesson here... the future may not just be about ever-more-capable models, but about building intelligent verification systems around them: systems that learn where models are systematically wrong, reason about cause and effect, and continuously calibrate predictions against reality.
