Francisco Lindor is MLB’s 2026 Roberto Clemente Award winner. Crazy, complicated year for him, but this is a big one. Recognizing years of service in the community. Puerto Rican kid gets to wear 21 on his hat for the rest of his career. Special.

I was thrilled that our Francisco Lindor was announced as the winner of the Roberto Clemente Award for his humanitarian service. True to his character, he went to visit my good friend Ethan Wilson, who was hospitalized and is recovering from brain surgery. metsinsider.mlblogs.com/fran…

God bless you, Rosco. You taught us what is like to be great. A writer's writer. A true pro. BBWAA card holder No 1. You will be missed. ❤️💯😪⚾️

Francisco Lindor and his wife Katia had an emotional moment when they found out he had been named the recipient of the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award: “This is something when our kids grow up, they’re gonna look back and say my mom and dad were very cool because they were blessing others and helping others”

For 30 years I've spent my birthday covering the World Series. Not today. I'm in Madrid with my wife, Alicia, and dear friends Vyvian and Matt to celebrate my 75th. Here we are in front of the opera house. Have a lovely day.

I’m heartbroken today with the news of the passing of Ross Newhan, one of the major influences in my life. We were friendly competitors on the Dodgers beat in my youth, Ross quietly schooling me on how to act and write and maintain my integrity. A Hall of Famer in all ways. ☮️

It’s hard to summon the words to describe the impact Ross Newhan had on me and so many other baseball writers during his illustrious career. He was a role model and a giant in the industry, and one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. My heart goes out to his wonderful family.
If there was a Mount Rushmore of ball writers, Ross Newhan would be on it. He was a giant in the biz, a Hall-of-Famer who spent much of his 43-year career covering @MLB for the LA Times. He was a mentor to myself and so many others, a friend to all. Ross died today at 89. RIP💔

May his memory be a blessing. A giant in baseball writing, and in journalism.

If Vin Scully provided the voice for the first half-century of MLB in Southern California, Ross provided the words. Farewell to a friend, mentor and legend.

Ross and I randomly ran into each other in the concourse of the Big A in September, 2021. That would be the last time I would see him. He became the dean of SoCal ball writers, has a place in the Hall of Fame and meant so much to all of us who shared a pressbox with him. 🙏🙏🙏❤️

OTD 40 years ago, the @Mets were on the brink of losing the World Series, trailing the Red Sox by 2 runs with 2 outs and the bases empty in the bottom of the 10th inning Instead, we saw one of the most dramatic comebacks in baseball history!
