No deal. The meeting between council leaders and the government has ended without agreement. They had been meeting for about an hour to try and decide how much money Greater Manchester will receive to go into Tier 3 levels of restrictions.

Olivia was the top girls name in the north west last year. Muhammad was the most popular boys name. Figures show Pendle had the highest proportion of boys given the same name - with 13.1% of boys born there in 2019 named Muhammad.

Christina Pomfrey (65) from Oldham has been jailed for 3 years 8 months after fraudulently claiming more than a million pounds in welfare benefits over 15 years. She pretended to be blind and to have multiple sclerosis. The judge described her as "staggeringly dishonest."

There have been a further 50 coronavirus-related deaths in NW hospitals. Its the fourth successive day that the numbers have risen. The figure presents more than a quarter of all the deaths in England and is by far the highest regional total. The total NW figure stands at 4,100

@BTGroup My mum’s locked in a respite home because of Coronavirus. I call to cancel her broadband. Your company says “no” because she’s in a contract ‘TIL July. And you refuse to extend the hub return deadline (and threaten me with a late return charge) despite CV19. Shameful.

An alleged member of a banned British far-right group has admitted planning to murder West Lancs MP Rosie Cooper. Jack Renshaw pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to preparing an act of terrorism by buying a machete with the intention of killing the Labour MP.

Dozens of new mini police stations are to open across Cheshire. Most will be in community centres, village halls and libraries - with some in churches or scout huts. Local community support officers will start and end their shifts there - and hold local surgeries.
