Why do candidates still put their physical mailing address on resumes? As an interviewer, I don't need to know where you physically live.

Somewhat relatedly, I remember a high school school counselor distributed "resume template" to me and my classmates back in the day which actually included a spot for your social security number....... Your SSN! On your resume!
Awesome, glad to help!

using a monorepo solves many code management problems, and in turn it does introduce some of its own. but ime, the problems caused by a monorepo can be tackled by a single centralized team, whereas the downsides of many repos end up slowing everyone on a team down slightly

.@java where did the free, non-oracle JDK11 release builds go? jdk.java.net/11/ points at some download page that requires an Oracle account?

My kids have started removing one letter of bad words, so they can call each other names and not get in trouble. So, I've decided to add one digit to the wifi password until they can be nice to each other. Your move itches

All the time. I don’t bother asking others for a code review until I’ve combed through the change set myself in detail.
Anyone else review their own pull requests on GitHub before asking a colleague for a review? I find seeing my code in a different context makes me spot things I missed when in my editor.

Tune in tomorrow kids, for an all new episode, "YAML as configuration files: please don’t"
In case it wasn't obvious from my last several tweets, yep, it's tax time.

Exactly - not to mention, the inherent lobby power afforded to "the rich" which only help them entice lawmakers to keep the tax code complicated in their favor: xitter.cf/Jadengore/status/11161…

Supplementing this: billionaires are the ones who can pay an army of lawyers and accountants to minimize their tax burden with our complicated tax code. A complicated tax code favors the wealthy.

Hey @RayDalio if you think you and other billionaires aren't being taxed enough, you're welcome to write an extra check or two to the US Govt. Reminder, taxes represent a minimum obligation, the Govt will gladly accept your overpayment.

Billionaires: We're not taxed enough! Everyone else: All right, cool cool, so why don't you go ahead and just write a larger check for "your" fair share. Billionaires: ..... Everyone else: ? Billionaires: Nah, nah, yeah we're good.

I have so much schadenfreude for all sad "lost my keys" crypto currency stories.
Gave up alcohol for Lent. No booze until April 20th. Here goes...

22-days in, still feeling great. No booze since Mar 7th. The energy boost continues, have also lost about 7-pounds with no changes to my diet or exercise routine.

A little more than a week to go! Such a great detox though. Looking forward to a modest celebratory drink on Easter.
