$6 Trillion. Hard to wrap your head around the size of that number.
A million seconds ago was 11 days ago. A billion seconds ago was 1993.
A trillion? 29,600 B.C.

I'd like to see the 2012 Obama era #HR4310, which weakened the #SmithMundtAct and allowed panic and confusion inducing pernicious propaganda to be inserted into domestic discourse, to be re examined in 2024. It has been a disaster imo.

It's not merely that the #Sacklers - a multigenerational drug-pusher dynasty - made billions while murdering hundreds of thousands of Americans by lying about the safety of #Oxycontin, flagship product of their #PurduePharma drug company. *It's that they got away with it*.

YIMBY valorization of Minneapolis zoning reforms too often misses the biggest reason for its success — and why it doesn't translate to other Tier Two cities with similar reforms.
Its strong mobility system unlocked undevelopable sites via ultra-efficient building types.

In 2017, Minneapolis adopted a similarly ambitious upzoning program, abolishing single-family zoning and upzoning transit corridors. It kicked off a building boom, such that Minneapolis is now the only city in the Midwest where rents are falling. onefinaleffort.com/blog/a-de…

Knowing, organizing, and presenting information has always been a key use of technology. DuPont was considered one of the best run companies on the planet because they figured out the purpose of corporate IT faster than anyone else.

To recap: OpenAI dumps the women from its board & brings on the guy fired from Harvard for sexist remark, appointed under interim CEO who said "40-60% of women seem to have rape/non-consent fantasies," all while bringing back the CEO whose sister accused him of sexual assault.

The most consistent bright spot in the dark swirl of US politics is the competence of the Biden Administration's progressive enforcers: people like @chopracfpb, #JonathanKanter and @linakhanFTC, who keep demonstrating just how far a good administrator can go.

Economists tell us that the market can remain irrational longer than we can remain solvent, but how long can *economists* remain irrational? Judging from the inflation scare we just lived through, the answer appears to be "longer than you can remain solvent."

ALT A vintage postcard of the Federal Reserve building by night, a full moon overhead. The building is spattered in blood. In the foreground is a medieval woodcut of two doctors bleeding a patient. The patient's head has been replaced with that of Uncle Sam. The doctors' heads have been replaced with those of Larry Summers and Jerome Powell.
