Superplane - an open source software factory 🔥
Launched by my good friend and ex-coworker @darkofabijan
They have crazy big customers already
Kudos on going public 🙌
Last month, 52% of the pull requests our team merged were automated through SuperPlane.
Today, we’re launching @superplanehq 1.0: an open source software factory for engineering teams.
We built it because using a coding agent can feel like becoming its assistant.
Starting sessions. Checking its work. Chasing failing CI.
SuperPlane takes on that coordination:
- Scans your backlog and proactively picks up tickets suited to automation.
- Runs a coding agent and verifies the result.
Works through CI failures and review feedback.
- Your team reviews the evidence and decides what ships.
The setup, instructions, and standards are shared across the team. When someone improves the process, everyone benefits.
Choose your agents and models. Run it on your own infrastructure.
We spent more than a decade building CI/CD at Semaphore. We’ve seen how much teams can accomplish when routine work runs reliably in the background.
Now we’re bringing that approach to coding agents.
Here’s how it works:

back in the day some of the best engineers would blog about not being paid to code but to solve problems
sounded nice pre-AI, now it’s a test of who stays in the industry

Your job may be surviving on inertia. Your resentment won’t extend the runway. What do you actually want to do with the intelligence now at your disposal?

We had a great evening in London with @elastic last night, exploring what it really takes to run a software factory.
We covered agent autonomy, observability, human oversight, and the feedback loop from deployment to incident to fix.
Thanks to the Elastic folks and everyone who joined us!
Here are a few moments from the evening.
Next stop: New York on September 17 🗽 🙌

🎙️ Podcast drop:
❓ How should your coding agent interact with CI?
❓What do CI platforms need to rethink when our agents control them more than humans?
❓Do I really need to create a PR commit just to run remote testing workflows?
I discussed these questions and more with the @semaphoreci team (now open source) after they spent the last year retooling their platform for agents.
Watch it on YouTube or grab it in your podcast player - DevOps and Docker Talk podcast (we’re now video on Apple Podcasts). My guests: Marko Gacesa and Marcos Filipe.

What does an AI-native CI look like, and how can you get there? The @semaphoreci team joins me to talk about their focus on making your agent harness the gateway to testing, fixing, and deploying your code.

You absolutely should care about the quality of the code. Agents get just as confused as humans do by poorly structured code.
We can ensure that quality by measuring it against standards. We can measure cyclomatic complexity and enforce thresholds. We can measure test coverage. We can measure dependencies, cohesion, coupling, and information hiding.
More importantly, we can infer much about the quality of the code simply by skeptically watching the agents work and by aggressively interrogating them about the results.
And then you can gain significant insights into the quality of the code by asking the agents to review the code and suggest improvements. Once you put them in that role they become relentlessly critical.

Chamath Palihapitiya @chamath "Bro, there is no failure."
"That is what other people think of you to keep you down. There's no failure. If you were left on an island and it happened, you would just brush it off and move on. It's everybody else that you think is judging you. But then, here's the secret. They don't give a fuck about you. They are living their own lives. So it's your perception of what they think of you."
"There is no failure. There's do and learn. Do and learn. Do and learn. Do and learn."

⚡ Ever had to rebuild the same artifact multiple times in your pipeline? Painful.
That’s where the Fan-Out / Fan-In pattern comes in.
It splits your workflow into parallel jobs, then merges results back together - fast, consistent, no wasted rebuilds.
We put together a short breakdown showing how it works (link in comments 👇).
