everyone is already dunking on this for the baffling scale (correct), but: why is Crawley (not a city) included and Carlisle (a city, about the same population) not? unfortunately there’s no alt text so i can’t find out, and as i live in the north i likely don’t have the skills
Southern cities are higher skilled than northern ones 🧭 Skills are the driver of economic performance. High-skilled businesses invest where they can recruit the workforce needed to help them grow. See our 12 charts to inform the election debate 📊👇 loom.ly/5ex4AxI

You might like this dashboard we built; it doesn't give you the numbers of people who can flange a lighting rig for 8k filming at the new framerate, but it does tell you how many people are SOC 3417, which includes that lot app.powerbi.com/view?r=eyJrI…

inside you there are two wolves
taylor swift in 2011: from when your brooklyn broke my skin and bones i’m a soldier who’s returning half her weight, and did the twin flame bruise paint you blue? just between us, did the love affair maim you too? travis kelce in 2011: i just gave a squirle a peice of bread

the liminal space of "all you can eat but you have to place an order and then someone cooks it" pushes me towards the "i'll have to order a non-embarrassing amount of food" end. for the hero in my story, it's the opposite

i was once in a harvester, where you can get all-you-can-eat cooked breakfast. not a buffet, someone asks you what you'd like and it's cooked for you. the table adjacent to us had finished the first round, and the waitress asked if they'd like anything else. "ten hash browns"
when my sisters husband met my parents they were making dinner and asked how many fish fingers he wanted and he said 12 because he thought that was a normal portion. I think about that a lot

luv 2 commute between the stations in second and thirteenth place on “fewest on-time trains among the 100 busiest stations” league table – at York, England
So many neat data presentations on @OnTimeTrains. Here's the best 15 busy stations for train performance. Chelmsford top. And the worst. Manchester Oxford Road bottom.

god i love the ONS and UKDS. good news for those of us who like the labour force survey and more precise class origin data than can be inferred from 3-digit SOC codes (as well as not having to run a script to classify every single 3-digit SOC code) yes i'm cool
incredibly niche question for Labour Force Survey users: anyone know why SM_NSEC10 (social origin, NS-SEC operational categories and sub-categories) isn't available in the Q3 files for 2021 and 2022, though it is for 2019 and 2020? (not a SOC2020 issue - no SM_NSEC20 either)

Oh dear. I’ve upset a lot of people. I didn’t mean to. I’m not saying ADHD doesn’t exist, I’m saying it shouldn’t be an identity and it shouldn’t be self-diagnosed. We are more than our diagnoses - that’s what I’m trying to say.

this is cool - in survey work we often end up with "merit" as a scale derived from "talent", "hard work", "ambition", but those three things are all different!
📢Elites often use merit to explain, justify, and make sense of their advantaged positions. But what exactly do they mean by this? @SamFriedmanSoc and @aaronsreeves have co-authored a new paper comparing understandings of merit in different countries. ⬇️ ow.ly/4Vak50PTNSp
