GICC volleyball coach Sharon Zavala announced to her players that she is retiring from coaching volleyball. She finishes her career with a 1,177-220 record with 11 state championships, 9 state runner-ups and 35 trips to the state tournament. #nebpreps

I will be in Elba tonight for the Class D2-5 final with Grand Island Lutheran and Elba. If the Lightning win, they’ll be playing for a district title for the first time since 2015 when the school was Heartland Lutheran. If Elba, they’ll be in a district final for the first time since 2006. Both teams won those matches to get to the state tournament. @gilutheran @EPS_Bluejays

In the D2-5 subdistrict, Grand Island Lutheran posted a 25-9, 25-11, 25-22 win over Giltner.
In the other match, top seeded Elba won the first set over Shelton 25-18 and leads set 2 19-15. #nebpreps
Shelton came back to take set 2 25-22. Elba had a good lead in set only to see Shelton come back to tie it at 21-all. But Elba closes set with 4-0 run to win 25-21 and take a 2-1 lead on Shelton. #nebpreps
Elba was down 8-1 but now has a 19-12 lead in set 4 with a 2-1 lead in match. #nebpreps
In volleyball action, Minden ends GICC's season after a 22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 26-24 win and will play Kearney Catholic later in the C1-7 subdistrict.
