So, this is how it’s working:
1. Reduce revenue cities can collect for needed housing infrastructure.
2. Tell cities you’ll “make them whole” a year ago. But don’t.
3. Set up a reward system for cities that meet housing targets, but is billions short.
4. Make sure that system won’t reward cities at all based on what’s under their control for those same housing starts.
5. Force cities to increase taxes, cut other needed services, incur debt and put credit ratings at risk.
6. Blame cities.
7. Get angry when Federal Government decides to give money to cities to help with housing.
8. Rinse.
9. Repeat.
10. Blame cities again.

Happy to partner with @UHN on this project and excited to see even more across the city.
One of the coolest stories you will see this week:
Prescriptive housing from the University Health Network.
The Hospital network is building 51 modular housing units that can be prescribed to homeless individuals who are highly dependent on emergency rooms.

While time and data changes, the take away hasn’t changed. Communities can’t meet tomorrow, the future without a better way to pay for municipal capital and operational needs whether it’s cities or rural settings. #cdnmuni @FCM_online @AMOPolicy

Ontario has the highest GDP of any province or territory, yet the Ontario Government spends the least on serving its people. The root cause of Ontario’s homelessness crisis is decades of provincial neglect and underinvestment. #ONBudget2023
