A genuine political problem for both Vance and Vivek is that, unlike Trump, neither of them quite has the stomach to be as unapologetically, leeringly cruel as the MAGA base demands.

In 2024, Trump complained bitterly that Jack Smith violated the 60-day rule by filing a motion -- even though the deadline was dictated by SCOTUS... Blanche was his lawyer at the time.
Q: The typical practice is DOJ doesn't usually release charges this close to an election. Even though Ms Lucas isn't on the ballot, her daughter is. So can you speak to the reason of the timing?
BLANCHE: The 60 day or 90 day practice is not in writing. That's not part of the justice manual. There's nothing improper.
