Last week I disabled GitHub Issues on most Laravel open-source packages.
If you hit a bug, describe it to a coding agent and open a PR. Even if the code isn't great, that's fine - code can be iterated on. The PR still documents the problem, and a proper fix can follow.
I suspect this will soon be how most open-source libraries operate.

WordPress 7.1 “Mary Lou” is now available. You can style blocks for different screen sizes without custom CSS, move between editors with a consistent admin bar, and crop, flip, rotate, or update image details in one place. wp.me/pZhYe-5zu

As a fun experiment, I've been tinkering with building a new test runner. It's crazy how fast it is (and this is only using one process to be a fair comparison, by default it's doing parallel testing)

🐘 What if PHP had first-class support for HTML markup in it, just like JSX?
I've written it up as an RFC (with working implementation) and am excited to see where the discussion leads!

WordPress Studio now embeds a native PHP server, it doesn't use playground by default anymore.
Still config free and simple to run WordPress sites, but significantly faster load times.
Give it a try wordpress.studio/ Happy to relay any feedback to the team.
This is so fascinating, I asked Opus to figure out how to run Final Cut Pro video transitions in a headless way. After telling him multiple times that it could do it, it finally did it by injecting a trampoline via inline assembly. 🤯

Starting today, we are making @base_ui the default component library in shadcn/ui.
First, a bit of history. When shadcn/ui launched in 2023, it was built on Radix. At the time, nothing else came close. Headless. Accessible. Composable.
Fast forward a few years and the team who built Radix are building something new: Base UI.
After adding shared-memory multithreading to my ProRes decoder, it now decodes a 130-frame 1080p video in ~200ms, right in the browser.
This is 3x faster than multithreaded NATIVE FFmpeg, and 60% faster than Apple's hardware ProRes decoder.
Relentless optimization pays off :)
WordPress 7.1 is targeted for August, and it’s expected to ship the move from React 18 to React 19.
For most projects, this should be smooth. But long-deprecated APIs like ReactDOM.render(), findDOMNode(), and function component defaultProps are being removed.

⚠️ On May 16, 2026, we confirmed a targeted attack by a cybercrime group that gained unauthorized access to our GitHub repositories and downloaded our codebase.
Here is the latest update about our investigations. grafana.com/blog/grafana-lab…
1/ We are sharing additional details regarding our investigation into unauthorized access to GitHub's internal repositories.
Yesterday we detected and contained a compromise of an employee device involving a poisoned VS Code extension. We removed the malicious extension version, isolated the endpoint, and began incident response immediately.
We are investigating unauthorized access to GitHub’s internal repositories. While we currently have no evidence of impact to customer information stored outside of GitHub’s internal repositories (such as our customers’ enterprises, organizations, and repositories), we are closely monitoring our infrastructure for follow-on activity.
