“We tried to get Claude to write it, but it did a poor, sloppy job and we had to spend a lot more time editing than we expected (don’t tell him we said that, just in case…). Perhaps there’s a lesson to be learned there. Claude also didn’t like our references to specific companies – one in particular. He preferred “standalone model developer”. So, our legal team would like us to point out that any reference to companies, products or individuals is illustrative and does not describe or imply their actual conduct, financial condition or intentions. It is a work of fiction, and any remaining errors are the fault of AI. As we know, AI “just does stuff sometimes” and no human should ever be held accountable for its actions. AI moves in mysterious ways.”

"Kara Swisher is a Karen" @karaswisher
Jason Calacanis calls Kara Swisher a "Karen" and hypocrite for attacking Elon’s SpaceX share gift while saying Democrats should put him in jail “I think she had multiple videos. One of them is it’s only one share and that they should just give money directly to people. And, it’s obviously what the reason that’s incredibly stupid is you should give any possible gift that people are willing to give and forcing people to hold on to it makes them part of capitalism." "And Kara Swisher makes $10 million a year from her podcast. She talks about it all the time. She is of the 0.1 or 0.01%. She should give half of her podcasting revenue if she’s so virtuous to Invest America accounts." "And she’s also saying they should be putting Elon in jail and that the Democrats are going to do that if they win. So there’s like kind of a doubling there. But she’s, she’s a Karen and she’s a hypocrite.”

Many leftist leaders seem to think they need to manage us like we’re in kindergarten, rather than citizens of a free republic who are their bosses. This explains some amount of their annoying and illogical policies.
Democrat Nominee for U.S. Senate in Texas James Talarico: “What if we ran our world like we run a kindergarten classroom? Because at the end of the day, aren't we all just really big kindergartners?”

Bernie's politics is the essence of greed. It argues that you are fully justified in putting a government gun to the head of someone else if you want their property.
Bernie Sanders: “Greed is not good. Love and compassion is good. Empathy is good. Billionaires who have more money than they can spend in a thousand lifetimes say I need more and more and more and I don’t care what happens to ordinary people. We have got to take that on full steam ahead”

So, Democratic Socialists of America want to change America. What country do they think we should emulate? And if they have one, why don’t they just move there instead of trying to wreck this one?

Salesforce will start taxing your AI agents (Applied AI, Oct 22): starting around November, customers must register outside AI agents. This is a step toward charging per agent "interaction"; Atlassian, Workday, ServiceNow, and Datadog are building similar tollgates. Is this a clear sign that per-seat pricing is dying and that platforms will tax your agents instead? It is a clear sign that you should read the automation clause in every proptech contract you sign.

Apollo is buying apartments, not waiting for the fire sale (Oct 22): Apollo invested $1.34B in equity in a $2B joint venture with UDR, covering 19 communities and 7,059 units. UDR keeps a one-third interest and keeps operating the portfolio, with a buyback option at years five-plus at a 7–7.5% fixed return. Is this a peek on the other side of the refi wall? It appears institutional capital is exploring on-ramps into multifamily while the exit queue starts to form. If you hold debt that won't pencil, your off-ramp might be a joint venture.

GREAT Conversation between @ariannahuff and @DanielaAmodei!
Right now, 75% of Americans are anxious and afraid about AI. People are even bringing their concerns into their therapy sessions, sorting through everything from how AI impacts their jobs to more existential fears about humanity’s future. These concerns are real. But they’re only part of the story. To go deeper, I sat down with @DanielaAmodei. As president of @AnthropicAI, she is a unique figure in AI.

LeBron James is taking imaginary jump shots and practicing his golf swing during the national anthem. The disrespect for America is unbelievable. The NBA will be better off once he retires.

Zero percent chance LeBron would practice a golf swing during China’s national anthem. 0%.
LeBron decided to practice his golf swing during the national anthem last night. I can’t wait until he retires, he’s been toxic for the entire NBA.

"Capitalism created the possibility of the win win win. It used to be a zero sum game where somebody won, somebody else lost. The biggest mistake people make they still think we're in a zero sum world. They're obsessed with some billionaires because Bernie Sanders thinks that @JeffBezos and @elonmusk somehow stole the money from the people. They don't understand that it's this prosperity machine that's creating more, not just for those billionaires, but for everything that they're touching. They're creating value for their customers, they're creating value for their employees. Their suppliers are flourishing, their investors are seeing their capital go up. It can be reinvested and compound. All philanthropy ultimately comes from business. That's where the profits are. Where does all the taxes come from? It ultimately comes from business as well. This is the engine that's lifting humanity out. The entrepreneurs are the drivers of that engine. Somebody like Elon Musk, he gets a very, very, very tiny sliver of the value that he creates for the whole world." — @iamjohnmackey

Watching LeBron James disrespect America is a sad sight to see. Without America he wouldn’t be who he is. He should show more respect to a country that has given him so much.

Between this and Anthropic’s new public benefit fund, isn’t that the exact kind of broad ai ownership you’ve been advocating @SenSanders ?
Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America. This will be the first of many.

Elon Musk just announced he is going to donate over $10 billion by giving 1 share of SpaceX to every child born next year. The best part is he will donate it directly to each child without any non-profit or NGO being able to take a cut. Incredible gift done in a powerful way.
